Hello everyone just wanted some advice. I'm buying a 18" RD HW powered by a SAZ 3000D with the electrical to support. Steve recommends 5.5 cubes with 55 sq" of port. I have a few 6" aeroports laying around and wanted to know with the box 5.5 cubes tuned to 35HZ requiring only 55 cubes (slot port), will one 6" flared port be efficient enough to sound good? I know I don't need as much port area with flared ports but I'm pretty stuck as of now on a decision. Any help will be appreciated! This install will be built in my trunk, should be fun.

two 6" ports would be minimally sufficient. one would not be enough. you could even do THREE 6" and be even better

Two 6" flared ports will give me roughly 56 sq" of port. The optimal port area for the 18" HW is 55 inches in 5.5 cubes, or 10-12 square inches per cubic foot. With aero's can't you get away with less port area because of the efficiency of using flared rounded ports? I'm also considering 3 4" aero's. I've built all of my enclosures but I'm having a slight issue on what to do on this one because the sub sounds really good with little port area. This setup is for daily beat. If it does well on the meter cool but if not I won't disappointed. My brother lives in columbus by the way. I'm originally from cleveland.

I agree with D-Bass...use at least 2 6" aeros. Or make a really good slot port of proper size.I mean if you have to build it, you might as well do it the right way. The (3) 4's is too little port also.
