go for the 12k. you can always turn it down...but you can't turn it up if you don't have the power.

its all about the install right maybe you didnt see thorshammer vids but he put a real beatin on a lvl5 and she kept ticking but it wasnt no 12k but i was under the impression that a 6th couldnt handle as much power as say a regular ported box. and by the way the 8k i tested all the way down was serously nasty

You need to keep one eye on the clipping LED, for burps it should be OK but for a daily use...

if i am not wrong he did say that he got a little over anxious with the one he did blow so i guess you could say with the right amount of self control you could have no problems. my customers lvl4xl 18's seem to be doing pretty well with there 8k beating on them so .... but i am inclined to think that that may be a little bit over kill for 1 sub though correct me if im wrong but a 6th order should be fairly effecient.

I actually am redesigning for a 4th order bandpass with a tube design like sgk's design but I am not forsure if I want to use a sd8000 or another amp like the cactus 12k at 2 ohms then half ohm burps maybe but I'm not sure yet because I will be selling my car after finals to but a truck for a blowthrough with 2 lvl5 15s or lvls 6 or maybe the crossfire xs-spl v2

because of the 10" spider, its prolly harder to find a good 12 basket that can handle the weight of their motors and still have the 10" spider landing cause most likely that motor will be bigger than the lvl 5 and the lvl 5 is insanely big

the sub might have an 11.5-12" motor diameter, and probably 3-4 1"-1.5" slugs. Probably weight 85+Lbs.

Yep sure have as per Rusty's request! It's kinda like apples and oranges though fellas. There has been extensive testing on lvl 5 12,15,and 18's but none for a lvl 5 10. That's where I come in. LOL

For those who havent seen yet the sub I was trying to kill was 100% when I pulled it yesterday. The noise was the tinsel leads splapping the hell out of the cone. I had ripped the stitching off the spiders. [Laugh]

For a 6th order I would think 5-8k would be plenty. [Big Grin]
