Both are good subs, go with the one that will give you the best price, and in the case of the two your talking about, recone kits! If you blow your subs, which company will get you repair kits the fastest?

I whould go with DD 9518 instead of the SoloX. N reasons. I know 2-3 guys also that had the SoloX and now do much better results with 95xx series.

I don't really think you can compare the subs. Especially when we are talking about DD composite cones. One more advantage, you have more impedance options on the 9518. SoloX is not a bad speaker, but it's not in my first 5 choices for SPL.

My 2 cents...

well, I guess things are different in Croatia. Again, both are good companies and have been around for a while. I'd go with the company that can give you the best service and prices in your country.

I loved the Solos when I had them and they were excellent for a daily sub, but for serious competition, I would go with DD.

DDs will be louder but not by a whole lot.

Solo Xs are cheaper and easier to recone. Recones will probably be cheapest off of ebay.

I DONT THINK THEY ARE EXPENSIVE... ITS THE SHIPPING TO AND FROM THAT REALLY GETS YOU. IF YOU CAN DO THEM YOURSELF YOU CAN SAVE SOME MONEY, HOWEVER, I HAVE YET TO SEE SOMEONE RECONE A DD SUBWOOFER (OR ANY FOR THAT MATTER) THAT LOOKS LIKE A FACTORY RECONE. USUALLY THERE ARE GOBS AND GOBS OF GLUE.

The reason you use gobs and gobs of glue when doing a recone on a 9917 is so it actually holds together and you don't spend another 100 bucks just for the coil and spider and have to spend 2 days cleaning the cone...

Been there, done that...I hate it.

Thats the ONLY reason I'll never run a 9900 sub again

I can do a recone on pretty much any other sub and it looks like a factory sub, nothing to that. Most people just get glue happy and think it takes half a bottle of glue to get the sub to hold together.

Less is more sometimes

I use the kevlar cones and getting that ca glue off of them is a bytch!!!! and to cover the old glue ring i just make the next one bigger, may not look beautiful but saves alot of money.....and you know it will hold up. Till the next time.................

DD All the WAY!!!

There may be other subs that compare. . but for me there is no other sub. I've been in the industry since the 90's and I have never used any other sub that I felt sooo strongly about. You get what you pay for .. and, if DD's were 50% more expensive .. I would still run them.

Quality product and quality people.

Woofer to woofer though with my bias aside .. Kickers are known to have weakish suspensions that loosen up quite a bit. Remember, ever time u use ur woofer the parameters on it change. . .How much do you want them to change over time?
