I'm installing some older school U.S. made amps/crossovers, with old school u.s. made subs and danish 3 way fronts. the dilemma is the following: if you had an option of running a 3 way set of old school dynaudios tweeters/5 inch mid 7 inch woofer would you run a 603x or an a200 and a400x(full range not using internal crossover? I really want to run the 603x 2 front channels running the tweets and mids and the rear mono channel running the woofers 2x150 1x300. I also have the option of running the a200 (100x2) to either the tweets or woofers and the ax400 (200x4) to the mids and highs or mids and lower mids.
i have an eqx and 2xs crossover and i go to sleep and think of one setup and the next night a different one. if you were building what would you do and why?

Well, first let me say that I ran a A400 A600 A1200 and it was great.
I say use the Art series but, I dont know that much about the xtant amps, but if you run that to your highs and mids then wont you have to run them in either mono or use the same xovers for your high and mids? That is a 3 channel amp correct.
Cant remember exactly but does not the output on the A400 us the xover?
And 5volts for the art series is plenty, I used an old, new at the time eclipse (5303?) whatever it was around 97 before they became another mass production unit....

correct, it's a 3 channel. yes the ax400 has a crossover but i have always had it bypassed and used the audiocontrol. in the event i do run the xtant i would also bypass the internal crossover and let the audiocontrol handle that function.
i was thinking about running the tweeters and 5 1/4 mids to the stereo and run the mono chanel to the 7 inch woofers. i think the woofer takes over frm 900hz down and i'm thinking that maybe running those mono might not sound so great. any feedback on this observation would be appreciated.

oops, forgot to mention. these 3 way dyns used to be powered by the 2 chanel stereo. i believe running i am unsure if at full range or high pass but they have a 3 way passive crossover. i could run the same configuration but then the mono channel would go unused so total would be 300 stereo. if i ran the woofers mono i would be using the full 600 watts. now if i wanted to go all stereo i could use the ax400 and get 400 watts as opposed to 300 xtant in stereo. hmmm...

never mind. i think i'll use 6 channels (ax400, a200) and run the three ways active without the passive crossovers.
Da%#$, i wanted to use that da%& Xtan because it is a work of art. as such i am drilling 4 holes in the wall and mounting it like a painting. regards, m.a..d
