I am getting ready to build a daily driver and am looking for some good ideas for this car? I want to be able to beat the crap out of this system but just don't know what kind of setup to run? just looking for ideas. I have been thinking about two 18's tuned to 32hz [Eek!]

Contact Mike Singer. He's a member of team Roadquake. He currently has the loudest Eclipse in North America. He also runs 2-18's and is tuned in the 30's.

haha
that was in the olden days for me now back when there was no hushmat anywhere in my car (148-low 50s down to 31hz). Car plays well in the street still but is in the 40hz range now (little bit better for the mic)

I'm getting the idea your looking for something a little less over the top though?

If that is the case I have some pretty good ideas for you

4 12's is actually a great way to go because you have room to configure the location of the woofers a few different ways that all work well. The first setup I had in mine before the eclipse 15's or any of the tc 18's was two type R 12's. I found that the vehicle played down to 25hz extremely well with the box just sitting in the back seat firing into the hatch. The box was close to 4 cubic feet with two type R's in it on two insignia amps i got for 30 dollars each on ebay. It had a single 4" aero port tuned to 25hz. Everything peaked in the low 30's and it burped exactly a 140 at the B's car stereo show. If you could find a way to replicate a setup like this with four 12's and more power in your back seat firing into the hatch it would be insane.

Here is a video I have of that setup with the type Rs on around no more then 400 watts

King Kong!!

if you want to car to produce lows that be loud on anything you play then go with two four inch ports. I know it isn't **** for port area but believe me when i say it works damn well in these cars.

if the box is around 8 cubic feet (net) keep them at 13 inches for the best results (that will tune it to 25hz). This will be a chopped and screwed machine on wheels! Keep and mind though that setting the box up like to will be very loud to the ear still...it will not be too low for this car (the 30-35hz range will be killer)

unfortunately I just have the GS
I just wanted something that would get me into a lane because some of my money went elsewhere lol.

If you are unsatisfied with the results of two fours setting the car up for the street you can add up to two more fours and the car will still be able to get down pretty well...
Sounds like a project
The best of luck to you brother

Where is there a louder Eclipse in the world other than Mike's? I would change it to loudest Eclipse in the world not just North America. Not to mention that Mike is running a fraction of the power that you will have in yours. Just wait unitl he straps two amps per woofer. Say hello to 156's [Tongue]

Hey guys. I'm a newbie here and I'm planning a system for my 98 Eclipse. I have 2 RE HC12's I'll be running and wanted to get ya'll's input on the best configuration for the box. I was thinking of having them face forward, with ports firing to the rear of the hatch. Do ya'll think this would be optimal for street b, or if not, what would work better?

I have been down to 4 2400's right now (less then half the batteries I regularly run)
The 12's should hold up fine. Just BE CAREFUL
If you have a good alternator once you add more batteries in your ride try disconnecting half of them and see how if effects your score. You should be suprised to see how much it effects your score.

I have not used that woofer but I think it likes something in the 50hz range. If that is the case then you are correct...woofer forward and port back.
