I own a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT. My current system with power handling information is as follows: Clarion ProAudio DXZ655MP deck --Peak Power Output: 53 watts x 4 channels --RMS Power Output: 18 watts x 4 channels --3 Pair Preamp RCA Outputs
powered by a Kicker ZR240 Amp --RMS Power at 4 Ohms: 60 W x 2 --RMS Power at 2 Ohms: 120 W x 2 --Bridgable
(2) 12" MTX subs (can't figure out what kind, doesn't say on the magnet)
powered by an MTX RT251D Amp --Class D Mono --RMS Power at 4 Ohms: 100 W --RMS Power at 2 Ohms: 200 W
(4) 6 1/2" Pioneer TS-A1680R speakers. --RMS Power: 50 W --Peak Power: 220 W --4 Ohm Rated
I also still have the (4) stock speakers in. I currently only have (2) of the Pioneer speakers connected, one wired with the front left stock speaker, the other wired with the front right stock speaker. I have them hanging from the handles ("oh ****" handles) above the back seat doors facing out so when I roll down my windows you can hear the song perfectly outside. It also sounds a lot better inside. I just did this today and will most likely connect the other (2) speakers to the rear speakers once I figure out where to put them.
Question #1: What amp would you recommend to use for the Pioneer speakers?
Question #2: My W0 is in a box that can fit another 12" subwoofer. I bought the sub, box, and Kicker amp from a friend and he had blown out the other sub or sold it, not really sure. My question is should I get another W0 or should I get a more powerful sub as well as an amp to power it?
Question #3: The amp to the MTX subs is a Mono sub. The amp to the W0 is a 2 channel amp. Should I leave the system as is, or should I switch the amps?
Question #4: This one may sound a little stupid, but I was just curious to know if there is any special way to set the gains to be able to play at full volume and get the most power out of the subs/amps without overpowering them and having them cut out when the bass is too much? I just did it by ear for each amp and am not sure if I set the gains too low.
Thank you whoever answers!

sounds like maybe you should just take it to a shop and do it the right way.

Well I mean everything sounds good, I'm just looking to see if anyone with more knowledge on car audio than I can just let me know what's best to do at this point. If I should have it taken to a shop and done the right way, what's wrong with my current setup? As you can obviously tell, I don't know much about this which is why I decided to join this website and post a topic in hopes of receiving some feedback. I am only working part time and am in college full time, so anything I can change to better my system using the parts I already have is my aim as of now. I would also like to hear of the other subwoofer recommendation as well as the amp for my Pioneer speakers so I can start saving and have an idea of what's to come. www.cardomain.com/ride/DKKOstyPosts: 5 | From: troy, NY | Registered: May 2008
