Ok I need some advice and suggestions. I am getting 4 PPI PC 12's from 1998. The amp I am looking at getting is a Orion 250R HCCA. Also if I am not mistaken the subs are single 4 ohm coils for a mono load of 1 ohm on that amp. That amp is rated at 800 watts mono at 12 volts but has been tested at hight as like 1100 watts with 14 volts. SO I will be getting somewhere between 200 and 275 watts a sub.
The other think I was thinking about was doing 3 subs at a load of 1.33 ohms so that would be 650 watts so 217 to 300 watts a sub and keeping the 3rd for a spare.
Looking at that I would be better of doing the 4 sub set up....Agree?...
Also the car this is going to go into is a 1996 Cavlier. I cant afford to give up the back seat to a watt yet but I dont need the trunk at all. SO any idea on a box design? I love bass and love Db Drag as well as SQ and USAC. SO I want something that will hit like no tomorrow but also be accurate. SO a happy medium. But I would rather lean to the louder and less accurate side.
I also though about over doing the front stage so that I could have the subs off and have the front stage prodice enough bass for SQ. Cause you dont need alot for that. Also I thougt about adding a seperate 8 or 10 just for SQ and that is all.
Any ideas? Let me know. Thanks!!

I think your going to be better off with all 4 subs if your going to do Db drag. Although, you should do fairly well with 3.. and still have some sound quality. If you have the room for the 4, do all for, dont try to overdo the front end, instead, have the subs either switched or use an orion deq30 and have a couple of presets for sq, spl, driving, yadayadayada. I think your going to find you'll run out of power from that amp too, IMO. Run 2 of them if you can, or go with 2100 or whatever the bigger one is. I had a 250rHcca, and never was really happy with it. The 225 had pretty much the same output IME. Maybe think about 2 of the 225's.

In a sedan, the best way to get all the low end into the cabin is with a bandpass style box where your cabinet has a duct or funnel on the front of it to direct all of the sound up through the rear tray. Of course this does mean modifying the rear tray and some steel removal...

Well I have had 2 225 and 2250 in the same system and was VERY happy. I had the 2 250 going to 4 Orion NT 12's...all old stuff. I managed a 152.2 in a Camaro. So I have had the amps and was VERY VERY happy. But if you dont give it the current you will not get the output..Thanks for the post..

Yep Techman that is what I want to do. I figure I dont have the real $$ to do keep up on a national level. So with that setup and the numbers I was told I should do SPL wise I could do decent locally for Db Drag and also for Outlaw (Ya I know real men do it on the dash:-). But also do a decent SQ car. That isnt much to ask for..lol..

Hmm Im not positive of the trunk design on a 96 cavalier but I have a 90 cavalier and I reallly doubt you could get 3 12 in that trunk : ) Maybe 3. Last time I measured the trunk was I think 38 in. wide. Something that I noticed while I was installing my system was the whole rear deck comes out if you drill out 4 spot welds and take 2 screws out : ) 2 firing up 2 firing forward. If your not willing to take the back seat out you could do that and make a new brace for the seat. IM not sure how that would look but thas just about the only way 4 12's would fit. GoodLuck
