I am trying to decide how I am going to layout my system. The car is a 1969 Camaro and the available spaces are the rear deck, front kicks and the center of the dash facing straight up towards the windshield that is 4 by 8 which can be enlarged if must or will really make a huge difference.

What I am thinking now is to have a pair of Focal Polyglass 100CV1 which are the 4 inch coaxial rated at 50wrms in the center dash, then a pair of Focal K2 165KPS which are the 6.5 Component rated at 80wrms, then in the rear deck another set of the 100CV1 with two eight inch woofers most likely be JL.

For amps I am most likely going to go with a JL 300/4 which is the 75X4 and then the JL 500/1 500 watt.

Head unit will most likely be the Alpine CDA 9887
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=CDA-9887

First question, should I use the head unit to power the front dash speakers, or the rear deck speakers? Or can I just run the JL amp in series or parallel to run the dash and rear deck.?

Second question, Should I not run the components in the kicks and instead run a midbass?

I am just trying to get some idea of what will work best. I listen to mostly rock/ county / folk / heavy metal /dance just about everything but classical and rap

Any and all comments welcome

I Would for sure Amp all the Speakers. I would get a good 4 channel Amp to do this so theres no problem

No Question about it, Run Components.
Hope this helps,

Thank for the comment, it was funny i never thought about running the speakers in series or parallel until i was typing my question.

The reason for mids in the doors was if there would be to much on the high side up front.

I guess if I have an extra set a speakers up front (kicks) then having the rear fill at the same level as the dash will not be a disturbance.

The idea for the head unit to power the dash speakers was to give the front stage some lift.

Are you gonna run the 100cv1's in the dash mono or stereo? Also keep in mind that kicks sound great, but are not going to be as loud as the dash speakers because they reflect of the glass, in this case only I would maybe recommend to run the centers off of the deckso the kicks don't get drowned out. Just my opinion though. Keep us informed, pics if u can.

I was going to run the dash speakers in stereo.

Thats why i was thinking of just using the head unit to power the dash speakers, I dont want them to loud but just to help out some. I also cant do much with the direction of the kicks.

This could be one of those things that you just have to try both ways, i see what happens.

With that Alpine can you turn on & off the internal amp? My Alpine is older, but it does it so odds are yours can. That way you hear the difference the dash spkrs make without any hassle.

Coaxials and components all in the front? Don't take the coaxials too lightly.. Put midbass in the doors and run active to the coaxials and amp each part of the coaxial separately
