The question is how.... Im a installer at a shop, We just started selling kicker products. Im looking to set my personal car up as a demo for a kicker solo x. I currenly have a fiberglassed wheel well enclosure holding 2 10" audiobahns. Internal volumn is only 3.4 cubic ft. I think it would be pointless to try using that for the solox 18"
heres the requirements.... Its a daily driver needs to keep somewhat of a trunk cant loose the back seat
My ideas... 1)Build a box to set on the back seats for demo and compition... (pain in the *ss, and very ugly)Id rather not do it then do this option. 2)Try to use the trunk as a enclosure, facing the sub into the front cabin, I dont think sheet metal would make a good enclosure tho. 3)try to raise the floor up a little more, I dont know if I can get much higher maybe a total internal volumn of 4 cubic foot
Anyone have any better ideas? We have all the other subs on display and functional in our audio room.

you would have to integrate the spare wheel well into the box and use all the room you possibly can in the trunk. Also, you would have to face the sub towards the roof of the trunk because the box can only be 16 inches high

That could make a definate trunk rattler. Will not have good results in the cabin though. But most people are impressed with a trunk hatch moving 3 inches

honestly i wouldnt even put it in a 4 cube box, your going to being losing so much space that it might be better if you had a 15 instead. Right now im using 2 RE SX15's in mine facing forward, works rather well. i found that if you line up the port with the armrest that folds down its a little louder in the cabin too.

I did some more measuring ect... I think if i stick with the wheel well enclosure i could get around 6 cubic ft. while still meeting my requirements. I was thinking to go with the 15" but to be honest was also planning to take it to compitions and want to be up with the rest of the croud, so im really going strong with the 18".. thanks for the replies keep them coming!

Id go with those 6 feet and port it through the rear deck, 3-4 layers of sound deadener throught the trunk and reinforce the **** out of the enclosure to keep the vibrations down... then piss the hell out of the neighbors!

6 Cubic ft on the 18" should work out alright? I can take the back seat out for compitions, I did it in the past it only takes about 20 min. Just cant leave it out. so the port throught the back deck shouldnt be needed.

i have tried a solox 18 in a 4 cu ft sealed and it worked AWESOME!! sounded amazing and didnt seem like it was too small of an enclosure because it still played LOW!!
either do that or go with a 12 in a ported box, imo i think that would be better.

cut a hole in the roof and getto mount it with the mag pointing up and then just drive faster for extra cooling when you are hammering the super lowwwwwwwwwsss
caution cooling process will not work when car is on a dyno unless its a dyno in a wind tunnel

baffle. use the trunk as the box, you still show the sub rear and it will play so low and make the trunk pop open

let me get this right i believe its realy going to be hard finding a 15" solo x. since they dont even make the solo x in a 15" size.
