Hey, everyone my name is Kris and I'm new to the forum. I have a 2001 VW Jetta and I've had an excellent record of having one of da loudest trunks in da county so far. I was wondering if someone can give me any ideas on increasing my SPL score, the highest amount I've metered was 147.4 My trunk has two AudioPipe TXX-15's with a sealed prefab box, with the M A Audio 4400 powering it. Im only running a 12 volt set up

i would build a ported box, aim the sub and port forward into the cabin, and seal it off completely from the trunk, that will add spl

Alright I will try that, You have the Memphis Mojo's how do they hold up. If I had their pair of 15's with the setup that i have now what do you think the numbers that i will be hitting on the term lab

THIS IS THE 1ST TIME I'VE EVER LOST, THE GUY BEAT ME BUY .2 DB, I HIT 147.4 AND HE HIT 147.6, IF I COULD ONLY KEEP MY VOLTAGE AT A CONSTANT 14, THEN I WOULDNT HAVE THAT PROBLEM.

I AM THINKING ABOUT BUYING A STEP-UP TRANSFORMER (12V TO 16V), LET ME KNOW IF YOU THINK THAT, THAT'S A GOOD INVESTMENT. OR IF YOU HAVE HEARD ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THEM LET ME KNOW SO I CAN DECIDE WHETHER I WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY ON IT OR NOT.

was the 147.4 on the termlab?

im actually runnin a hifonics goliath xx2415 with quad 2 ohm voice coils now, i just havent changed my sig. i like the mojo's, i blew the dust cap apart on one of them tho, i need to get a new dust cap soon. i really wish my back seat folded down like yours does.

i really think if you port it you will gain a lot over a sealed box. i have no clue what the 15 inch mojo's would hit, they would definately need ported tho

let me know if you ever switch it up and see what it does mang

yeah it was on a termlab. Matter of fact on that day i dont know how i hit that high, my voltage was acting crazy that day, when i got in my car it was at 14.2 and then when i decided to burp it, it went down a whole volt so it was sittin at 13.2 after each burp it would drop drastically to around the low 11's and high 10's . The day when i hit 147.4 was the day i got beat. But trust i shall never be beaten again.

I was thinking about an idea i had, how about i take a piece of MFd board and fit it to fit my trunk, the actual opening from the inside of the car, as if i was to let down my back seats, all you would see is the board. Then id cut out the exact size of the front of my box, sort of like building a wall for the trunk. So the subs would be facing inside of the car. I wanted to know would that work too, i mean it just the same as turning my box to face the inside of the car and filling the spaces around with expandable foam. I'm hitting 147.4's with a TermLab what is an estimated value of what i will hit if i turned my box around to face the inside of the car and seal the air around it. Then i know after that the next project would be to build a ported box instead of sealed.

Lets say that i turned my subs firing inside the cab, and sealing off da sides, and then i have a ported box how much DB gain do you think i will get. I've personall experienced a guy gain 3 DB from firing his subs into da cab. I also seen a guy gain about 2 or 3 DB from changing his setup from just regular pre-fab sealed to pre-fab ported box. So i guess what i am asking is in total wil i gain 5 or 6 DB by doing that.

5 to 6 db is a bit! Best bet is to just test it.
