i want to make a custom enclosure for my subs using the whole trunk including the wheel well.... i drew something up on how i want it to look like.... (please dont laugh lol) im planning to take out the spare tire and get rid of that metal piece thats hold the tire....

for the plastic panels do i have to take them out? or leave them in place and shape the fiberglass on the panels? or should i cut the panels?

i alrdy dynamate my whole trunk will it be ok?

is mdf wood used for the top part of the box or its all fiberglass?

how much time does this usually take for a good job?

i have all tools to get it done but im totally new at this... i would pay someone to do it for me but the price is going to be to much... ive never done this before so its going to be fun... does anyone have pics that looks like something im trying to do?

thanks for any help

You'll want to use MDF panels on the flat parts, it'll be stronger that way unless you make 20 layers of glass and mat but that's expensive. My suggestion would be to make a frame for the top and sides out of MDF and just glass the wheel well area. Kind of like this but apply it in trunk form

And it's going to take a while so make sure you have a good plan and are patient. Before you glass the wheel well and bottom area, lay down some masking tape and aluminum foil so when you glass it will release better. I sprayed some tire shine stuff also, to help the mold itself release from the tape. Just spray it on then glass it. Also make sure it's a nice day out [Smile] AND don't work in too big of amounts or it my dry to fast.
