Well....after all the discussion on the Ranger, it looks like ol' Dad wants to keep it. That's alright though..I have yet another plan!! =0)
It seems that I've heard nothing but good things being said about the punch 8's in a ported box.
I was thinking about selling my 2 12's and building a slick little custom box for 4 8's ported.
I want to make a new rear deck with cutouts for the 8's. I guess I should use fiberglass for that. I was gonna run the boxes straight down into the trunk. Which will still leave me with plenty of trunk space...plus the subs will be firing right into the car and not going through the rear seat. That should add for db's. Plus the 8's act quicker to bass so it should also make the sq better. (sounding right so far??)
Anyway...that's just a quick description. Does that sound like it would sound better than my 2 12's in the trunk? It should also stop a lot of truck rattling...I'd think.

I'm really thinking about doing this. The only thing I'm worried about is now people will be able to see that I have some kind of system going on in my car. They might decide they'd enjoy those subs more in their vehicle..and break in..geez...don't you just hate people like that!!!
Still...it sounds like it would be loud and clean. =0)

I'm thinkin this would be cool: For the boxes for the 8s, go and get some 8" PVC pipe and have four tubes extending down under the rear deck. For the ports (you are porting right!) use a 8x4 wye and a 4" 45 degree elbow and tube to bring that up through the rear deck too. Some 'glass, bondo and paint and it would look hella cool. A new custom rear tray out of 'glass and flowed into all 8 holes (4 subs, 4 ports) would tie in the coolness inside.
Or you could build some boring wood box,,,,,,

Lord Dukk The Big Show The Dukk says: Know your bass: PORT your damn box!! Have HoleSaw, Will Travel!

That really sounds like a good idea!! Actually...it sounds cooler than the wood box...and easier to make =0).
Plus..I could still put some wood behind the seat to hide the pipes running down. I could also put a big rockford emblem on the wood..and throw a neon under it.
That would be pretty easy to do..and it would look good.
thanx for the idea dukk!!

Hey, I just got done installing my system a few hours ago "been working on it for the last 18 hours, with a big 2 hours of sleep" If you plan on taking your back seat out and making a custom fiberglass panel to replace it or "like I did" just get some plywood, if you have a pretty straight back seat. Keep in mind when you do this if you have a back window that is really slanted down then you want to try to protect you pretty subs from the sun.
I am very happy with how mine came out. My trunk is almost rattle free now that my trunk is pressurized :P And the bass is a tade bit louder but no huge gain in sound
