Here's the question -- Is there a "cost-effective" way to wire my components to an RF amp so that the amp "sees" a 2 ohm load stereo (for more power)? I am trying a temporary fix until I have enough money to buy a new amp. I would prefer to only wire one pair to them if possible (the front ones), if I need to use both pair, is there a way to maintain the use of the fader (ie want front speakers to be louder than the back)

You will need to wire in both sets to make the amp see 2 ohms stereo. A power fader can be used (find 'em at Radio Shack) but they use resistors to 'fade' so you will only get the 2 ohm load at centre position.
Try putting a piece of carpet (the 'acoustically transparent' stuff) in front of the rears to 'pad' them down a bit.

Careful with those Rat Shack L pads. They don't handle too much power and many car amps can smoke'em. I've used them successfully myself, just be careful.

I agree with Techman, try the Home theatre area for resistor based volume controls. As for the 2ohm load to the front speakers, chances are very good that tweeters will get toasted, and the mids sauteed at higher volume levels. At listening level the front will more than likely be very bright, edgy, harsh,or agressive(hey Wayne, ya got something to describe sound?).

I wasn't really referring to a traditional Lpad (although I guess that is basically what it is) This item is an actual fader - it has two pair of speaker wire in (left and right) and four out. It's kinda neat but doesn't handle much power. Just avoid the fader altogether and 'pad' them down acoustically by covering them in the carpet.
