a CRX boot [Wink]

its a UK spec (mk2) 1.6 16i, but im pretty sure the boot is pretty similar in size to your CRXs over in the US.

boot looks like this...

 -

rear seat area looks like this...

 -

it can be as big as the boot but i must be able to fit amps in somewhere and close rear seats/parcel shelf properly (for security reasons)

cheers

hi tempe [Smile]

2 seater CRX? they only do they 4 seaters over here (if you can call those rear seats)

what are the dimensions for the CRX box then? i measured it up i can get a box around 5.5-6.0cubic feet in there, any suggestions?

my inspiration was this photo...

 -

(apparently hit 153.1dBs and boot looks of similar size to mine...

 -

cheers for your help so far [Smile]

Hmmm... you guys get the bad end of the deal... the only CRX's they import to the states are 2 seaters. A 4 seater is not even available as an option... The box in your photo (your inspiration) is in a 2 seater CRX (US). What are the physical dimensions of the rear hatch area of your CRX, behind the seats?
Let's go from there and see what we can fit in your area, which appears to be slightly smaller...

typical crx box is 29x29x14. Those are external dimensions, top is generally double layered. The box is 2 separate chambers. 4 4" aerports about 12" long. Subs go to the very back of the box.

Probe is correct in his info, that red CRX photo is my car [Big Grin] a while back last season when I was experimenting with different variations of the "CRX BOX" but I ended up with the standard one as it performed the best.

The crx style box is going to have the subs on top under the rear window and the port on the side that is facing the licence plate just like in your pic. I don't know too much bout box size but just that you have to allow enought space for the port to vent the air.

what about say you are doing Street B with 4 12's in a crx? How would the box be then? I think Tonya Garcia had 4 12's in the back of her crx.

I was wondering about the CRX boxes that were used at the 2002 dB Drag World Finals Street 3-4 cars. The winning CRX car, Mary Poncin, was using 4 DD subwoofers, hitting a World Record of 160.0 and the second place CRX car was using 4 Kicker L7s, hitting 159.X. I was always under the impression that you build a box with enough cubic feet per subwoofer. When you see the CRX boxes in the Street 1-2 or Street A class, you can obviously see that each subwoofer has enough cubic feet. Now when you see the CRX boxes in Street 3-4 or Street B, the box is the same size in Street A, but now there are 4 subwoofers. How does that work when the subwoofers aren't really getting the manufacturer's recommended airspace requirement? I hope I'm not babbling here and you guys understand my question.

I built the # 2 3-4 car's box last year. there are some interesting "sacrafices" made in that box. certain things that cut down airspace but increase SPL. FYI....all 4 subs in that car share LESS than 4.5 ft ^ 3.

I agree, my car uses less than 1.5 foot per driver after displacement. [Wink]

hey for the crx style box with running 4 12's are the boxes common chamber or do you guys run dividers? i'm running a crx box with 4 kicker L5 12's, the box is @7 cubes before displacement of subs and ports with 4 4inch round ports 14 inches deep and its a common chamber.

I ran 2 xfire BMF 15"s in the CRX box at one point last year and was doing consistant high 53s (outlaw) and 52s on the dash - threw the same box in an integra (1st gen) and did 52s outlaw - THEN last season i put 4 treo SS 12s on 2 mmats d300hcs in the crx box(in the crx) and barely broke 50s [Mad] finally i just took an 8 cube box, huge vent straight up all subs up 2 xfire 1000ds = 54s... crx box works sometimes.. gotta do alot of work to get those numbers, don't just buy a crx and think your gonna be loud [Big Grin]
