I have a 74 Jeep CJ5 with no back seat, and usually no top. I am installing 2 RFR 1412 subs pushed by a 1200 watt Pheonix Gold amp. I was wondering if any one has recomendations for a box design. I want something more on the SPL side, and preferably bandpass or something like that so when bolted in, the subs are not accessable to theives, sun, etc. I plan on fiber-glassing and gel coating it to make it as waterproof and durable as possible for a Jeep. Also, any recomendations for amp location would be appreciated.

Banpass is the best way I know of to protect the sub from the eliments. You may gust need to go ahead and mount it all behind you (in the back. I might mount the amp under the box with the main controlsare (gain, X-over, ect) to the out side edje and seal it with a removable cover ie.. Plexi glass. Then use two 3" fans in push/pull one on each side of the amp to keep it cool. Just as long as rain dosen't puddle up in front of the fans the amp will stay dry too.

There've been quite a few jeeps in CA&A, AS&S, and CSR to look through as well .
Sounds like you're going about it correctly though, also, if you're doing what I think you might be doing with that Jeep, take a look at the summer issues of Fourwheeler!! They did a whole magazine on Waterproofing yer 'wheeler.
Much luck!!!
