i dont know much about this stuff.. trying to learn a little.. i have a 2000 ford ranger regular cab. I want to get 2 12" woofers behind the seats but i will settle for 2 10"s . i have 40"width 14"height 11"bottom depth and 5"top depth to work with....i want to know if it would be better to build my own box or but one of those costom ones for a ranger that only can fit 1 12" sub.... im good with wood so i think i can handle the box. My funds are also limited.. i have about $700 to spend on the entire system.. im starting from scratch .. give me some ideas...

i dont know.. i'm totally confused now.. i talk to this guy who is really good.. he has about 20 years experience.... he said that i wouldnt like it if i put subs in the back. said it would hit my back too hard. He suggested getting 2 6 x 9 's with crossovers to make them all bass. Then to get 2 more 6 x 9 's for the door speakers... i would love to have a louder system but i dont want it pounding at my back..... what do u think?

in addition to opening up a whole new world to you and your ranger, there is a thread on there about a site i believe it's www.subbox.net, that sells very very slim sub boxes for reg cabs...i custom built mine, but would go with these guys in the future if i needed to...hope this helps

yeah, tempe, i'm just getting my feet wet here...it's only a matter of time, tho, heheh
bass hitting you in the back is good...my advice, install a head unit that cuts the subs if you're not have a bassy day (like sunday mornings hung over on the way to chuch, as snoop would say); or a manual kill switch from your amp if you wanna turn off the bass

I was kinda thinking the same thing, notloudenuff. Who the hell is this guy, 6x9s for bass???????? 20 years experience???????????? Do Not listen to this guy. Yes, you will have bass hitting you in the back, but for some, that's a big part of the experience. With those dimensions, you'll only have room for one 12" in a sealed enclosure. To minimize the "bass in the back" feeling, mount the sub on the passenger side.
