i presently have 4 10'' mtx subs in one box all firing straight up, and i'm not happy. i have a saturn sl1 (1999) i'm not sure about the trunk size i'll try to find out. but what kind of box do you guys recomend for more spl? my friend has an awesome idea, one box with all 4 in a row firing toward the back of the car and then adding a pannel that covers the subs and sawing "SATURN" into it and see what that does. It would certainly look cool.

i would definatly aim them backwards as long as the box doesnt take up the whole trunk. i made the mistake of tearing my box out and rebuilding it aiming backwards (which should normally work good) but my woofers are 18s and the box took the whole trunk. sounded like crap and i could tell the sound was trying to get into the cabin, but it couldnt. there wasnt enuff airspace around the box to get in.
i think smaller woofers/smaller box, backwards has to be the way to go.
thats my own exp. so if im wrong.....someone in here will correct me.

i am using mtx road thunders. they max at 250w and my jbl 600.1 is definetly giving about 200 watts to each sub, that is the most efficient amp i've ever used. i still don't know about the space, my friend built the box so i'll find out.

The size is very important. Usually you can increase spl by decreasing the size of the enclosure. However doing this will effect your low bass extension. So if you want both you will have to comprimise somewhere between spl and sq.
