I currently have an RF 800aII powering 2 12" RF DVC subs. I have an 8 gauge power and ground cable. No electrical mods done yet.

I wanted to know if upgrading to 4 gauge cable would give me more power. Also I wanted to know if I should upgrade my battery and altenator. My current high is a 139.9.
Also I am experencing high end noise through my subs. I have the Purple RF rca cables. If anyone knows of ways to get rid of this please tell me.

I welcome all suggestions in ways to make a higher spl.

my 2 cents.

That 8 awg wire is killing your RF amp. Please DO switch to 4 guage. That'll supply your amp with my juice so your amp is not "gasping" for power.

Noise? through the subs? Do you have your RCA's running along side the power wire?

Yes but the noise is like engine noise. When I press down on the gas pedal the sound increase to a higher pitch and then dies out around 4000rpm.

Yes you do have power wire next to RCA's.

Move them. The power wire has a magnetic field that affects the RCA signal flow. If you want to see if it is why you have engine noise (chances are it is) run some RCA's outside the car front to back.

I had old rca cables from radio shack that I had wired the same way and I never got any noise from them. When I thought I was upgrading to the RF rca cables thats when I noticed the noise.

Also I have vocals comming out of the subs I wanted to know if I can put an x card in to cure the problem.

You definately need some kind of crossover on the subs. Or, if you've already got an x-over, turn down the sub out frequency....

I was looking at either the epx2 w/28 band eq or the pioneer 9200 because i have a pioneer head unit and the visuals are nicer.

If anybody knows where i can get these for a good price or how much they should cost please let me know.

Adding a croaaover may just eliminate that whine (well mask it anyway). Chances are those old RatShak cables had so much inductance that they rolled off the whine...
