*Flight of the Valkries Music*

I was in my truck and started thinking of space for up-front bass, and then I thought of the obvious places: kicks, doors, hollowed out dash, space between the bucket seats on the drive-train hump. Then, I looked up and roughly measured about 6.5 - 7.5 inches between the top of my head and the roof/head-liner. Would it be feasible to extend a wall of subs to the roof (so it looks like a half T) and the subs fire down onto the seats? I'm not sure if this would work in cars (not a car man, sorry) but most trucks, it might be some space to add extra inches and get that spl higher. I'd try it, but as y'all know, $ and I ain't been friends lately ... Gotta love after college bills

oh well, just another crazy idea. Had 10s in mind for the above subs. Could get between 2 - 6 up there, probably

One hell of a headache, but if you're just using it for spl comps?

Oh well, back to work

It is a neat idea but I don't see how it would work for dB drags. How could it pass the string test?

Don't be so hard on yourself.....that's why this section is here. So that we can display our ideas before we try them. If you want to get more bass up front, try to fit some bigger speakers up in the kicks or the doors. Many competitors have put either multiple 6.5s or 8s or a compination of the 2 in the doors with a 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 in the kick. Also, you might want to try mounting either a pair of 6 1/2s or 8s in between your seats (if you have buckets) or under your dash, or as some have done, in the dash.

Hey, I will admit to several stupid ideas. I had a single cab S-10 back when I was a teenager. I had pair of 15's in the bed, and I didn't even have a cut-through. I had them under a vinyl bedcover and all they did was make a whole lotta noise. You could barely even hear them when you were sitting in the cab and when the bass hit it would rattle the tailgate and it sounded like sh**. Needless to say I didn't keep that setup that long. I put them behind the seat and had the seat pulled up all the way. Not a comfortable ride, let me tell you.
I later got some sense and sold them and bought some 10's.

The cool thing about all of us is that we can try anything...

Believe me, I know. How many of you out there would do I full system in a Taurus??? Not too many!

Its all with experimentation!!! Definately. I mean, if you got the resources (Land, Labor, Capital), I'd say go for it! Anything is worth a shot!

Plus, with that idea, ber, thats a BIG PLUS for Creativity! I never have seen speakers firing down from the roof! To me, that takes some great planning and ideas to make that happen.

I don't wanna say it, but in a sense, we are All engineers...developing new and creative ideas for use in our automobiles...

Did you think Orville and Wilbur had doubts about their airplane? Sure they did. With a little practice, patience, and ingenuity, they have acheived world wide fame...

Just show all of us how creative you are... keep those thoughts flowing!

(No, this was not an inspirational speech, was it?)
