That sucked so much! After the long 10 hour trip that was supposed to take 8 hours due to a broken wheel on the trailer that had to be welded back together, the security dude said the doors was going to be closed at midnight. What time did Big Jim arive? 11:55pm!! They had to rush it off the trailer and in the process snapped off part of the steering up front of the vw bus.
Big Thanks still go out to Doug Lundy and his welder.

What exactly does it remote control ? has the motor been converted to electric or something ? More details appreciated very interested.

If it is what it looks like, I believe that should be illegal. Where is the gas pedal and brake? The way I understand the rules as far as clearance goes. It was set up based on a standard sized person being able to drive the car. So the intent would be that you would be able the sit in the drivers seat area to drive it. If you have to stand in front of the vehicle to "drive" it seems like a huge safety issue also.

That **** went away with the 30 inch rule being introduced, too many different interpretations of "average sized adult"
IF its done right its no more a safety issue than someone jamming their feet in a 6 inch hole to control the gas and brake in some other extreme vehicles.

I agree that the average sized adult rule did change but I also beleive that the 30 in rule was done only to make the interpretation of average sized adult easier to judge. I also beleive that standing infront of a moving vehicle and facing it(not where you are going) is a safety issue, sorry but your not going to convince me otherwise. Maybe if the driver was in some sort of supported seat facing foward so that he could see where he was going without running over himself or into something but even then I beleive the intent is for the driver to be in in the vehicle when it is driven.
dB Drag Racing Creed I will never operate my system in a manner that could result in injury. Safety Guidelines Operation of a motor vehicle is inherently dangerous. You MUST insure that the operation of your vehicle will not endanger yourself or those around you. In the interest of safety, competitors are encouraged not to modify the vehicle’s OEM foot pedals (accelerator pedal, brake pedal, clutch, and parking brake). (If they don't encourage modifing pedals I am sure they won't encourage this type of steering) I would also use this rule to point out that the intent is for the driver to be inside the vehicle when it is driven As a minimum, the vehicle must have a door for the driver and another for the passenger. Each of these doors must be located in the traditional locations for the driver and passenger. (i.e. Opposite sides of the vehicle.) Exception: Vehicles that were originally manufactured with only one door. (i.e. Mail delivery jeep.)

The pedals are all in the same place, as is the gears.
Its just the steering has been modified because the wheel would not fit under the dash. I dont know for sure exactly how it has been done, but Id guess servos on the steering rack. The car is steered via two buttons on a hardwired remote control unit.

They did this on a TV show called Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel. They made a car Radio Controled to do some stunt testing.
Episode 10: Explosive Decompression, Frog Giggin', Rear Axle "Jamie and Adam get trigger-happy trying to shoot down myths regarding firearms. First, they fire a bullet into the shell of an aircraft to find out if a single shot can cause explosive decompression — and total aircraft destruction. Speaking of heavy artillery, they'll test the story of two hunters who claim to have used a loaded .22 caliber gun cartridge as a replacement fuse in a car's ignition. Will the experiment backfire? Finally, they take on a movie myth when they try to rip a car off its rear axle. What could possibly go wrong?"
Sorry but that is all I could find on the inet but I saw the show and it was realy cool. They took a old cop car and made it a RC car then they hooked the rear axle to a pole with a cable and tried to make the rear axle rip out.
He is steering a extreme vehicle! Yes I´m telling you, he has the steering hooked up outside of the vehicle!!!!!!!!

my van the steering was a chevy windshield wiper motor hooked up direct drive to the steering box, and the van moved from a 15,000 ft/lb torque electric motor that was bolted directly to the rear end on the input u-joint there was no drive shaft between the engine and rear end, where the transmission was I had a bracket made to mount alternators that were geared up to turn the alternators off the flywheel off the back of the motor at around 6000 rpm alternator speed to 2000 rpm engine speed.

mine was all remote controlled, I could have sat in the stands and by remote drove the van into the lane opened the door let them put the mic in then closed the door turned on the vaccume seal, turned on the humidifiers (did I say that out loud), ran the stereo then drove it back to its spot and not lost my seat in the stands.

i thought the vehicle had to be able to drive into the lanes by its own power? if so standing outside the car and having to turn the wheels....is that its own power?
