I have about $800 to spend on a nice street A setup(sub and amp). My current thoughts are to buy one 12" RE MT and two Hifonics Brutus's 2005D in a 4 cubic foot vented box. What do you think?

Dont waiste your time doing SPL you need to have about 10,000$ to be near the top. Save your money and do Bass Race or something fun.

lerrin "SO I could have a nice car with no system?"
no but if you get a crx then you might just have a chance to win that class, i beleve thats what steve is saying, but that set up you listed should sound really nice,BUT im going to tell you the samething everybody is going to tell you on here, its all about the install. If the box is not done right then no set up is going to win.

ebay your crx I just bought a very virgin crx for 400 only has rust on rear quarter about the size of a half dollar, has all of the original interior including cargo covers, and a fully rebuilt engine with less than 30,000 on it. Just have to know where to look and keep an eye out for it.

Thats even worse than what you had. They are very hungry for Batt power. Bass Race is very simple. You find out what your system will play. Say you can only play a 145.3 DBs, you will want to turn it down to try to play a 139.9. Its very easy, not but about 3 rules, and a lot of fun!

My friend has one and we hooked it up in my car with a 15" RE MT and it played for about 10 min on music before it even cut out and thats on my yellow top.

Why use the MT series, why not buy two SX 10's instead? I'm going to try RE SX10 next season in Street A Currently running with two Pioneer PRS-D5000SPL that runs two Pioneer TS-W2504SPL.. With a wooferbox built in 60 minutes, a single powercable from front to back, it did 149dB on the Termlab, 148,2 was my highest winning score at the Norwegian finals.
