Yep, that it is. It was april at 2003 when i was planned to make this kind of Band pass setup. End of 2003 there was 3 cars(Team Louds car's) for using this kind of setup and nowa days there are so many setups what are more or less similar setups. Also this Kadet from south Africa has been built with my support and right now it is lots of louder than my car. It is my lucky that they are not doing dbdrag there

It was definately the AC190, they had trouble keeping it on the screen with the sensor falling off mid burp. Im sure some of the IdBL competitors will tell how much the 190 mics fall off.
Ive read elsewhere that it did scores similar to 177.3 , 177.9 , 181 , 185.1 , 177.9. Maybe the 177s are the correct score and the 180s are when the sensor fell off and hit the floor?

That would kind of make sense, because the number goes to something like a 177.9, then jumps to 185, but you don't notice a volume change in the sound? I know thats FAR from an exact way to judge it, just an observation.
Seems like a massive jump to the floor if thats the case though. I've got Moe checking on it, because it obviously should be the record in the class if its accurate, and for some reason its not showing there.
Either way, 185 in ANY location in the car is an impressive number!

I was in contact with the Director and World Record Judge from IASCA South Africa this weekend to confirm what we saw on the video. They have reassured me that the record is not official; in two attempts at achieving the score, the sensor fell off the windshield both times creating a spike in the reading. After literally “gluing” the sensor to the windshield so it did not move, the competitor was able to achieve a score of 177.6 dB. Apparently the plexiglass used for the windshield was so badly scratched up that the suction cups would not hold the sensor in place.
I guess the vehicle certainly has potential though; according to my World Record judge who was officiating the event, the pressure generated in the vehicle flexed the plexi so wildly that in one run where the sensor was glued on, the cable literally shook its way loose from the sensor; they had to attach the cable to the sensor as well. I have also heard that this vehicle has been known to achieve 180+ on the Term Lab sensor; I don’t know if it is an official score with dB Drag, but I heard that from reliable sources.
Anyway, the video on the forum was of one of the attempts at the event where the sensor fell off the windshield during testing; it is not and will not be considered an IdBL World Record.
I hope this helps clear it up; if you could, would you mind posting something up on that thread indicating this info? Thanks.
All the best my friend and thanks again for making me aware of the situation.

I'm almost wondering if thats the score that a AC190 will show when it comes unplugged? Because the video spikes from 177.6 to the 185.1 instantly.
I can't imagine ANY design jumping over 7dB in the kick.
Either way, solid number, bound to see more out of them down the line....

At the end of the day, congratulations to the S. Africans, there vehicle is VERY LOUD, to hit numbers like that weather its 185/183/180/177 what ever, with only 2 x DD Subs, no one can argue, we will see alot more of them.
I'm sure they did'nt have a $250.000 budget with ton's of amps and multiple subs, like some, just 2 DD's.

Mike I dont know if you remember this or not, but when we were at Meca/Iasca finals in 2004, when I went up to go thru on my first run in IDBL I burped my truck and the meter said 176. for a split second and then said OVR or +++ and the sensor cable had come unplugged and that is why it gave that reading. After I charged back up I went through again and did a 173.0.

Just for the record the AC SPL 190 meter with all the World Records from the NOPI IASCA World Finals has been plugged into the outlet in my office in OSWEGO, NY and has not left the building since I got back from Nopi.

yeah, if they would have had alot of equipment it would have been alot harder to do that number.
so why run more?
To be in the biggest class there is and be the loudest on the planet?
