Well, I figured since I don't post much on the dbdrag forum that I would poke my head out of the
sand here and say hi there now that I'll be seeing more of the dbdrag world. Not sure how well it would be recieved here, but here goes.
After some urging and requests and if you guys want to see them, I'll also be posting
the buildup of my newest setup. Quite literally from the ground up.
Should be ready by SBN.
Before I go much further though, I want to take a moment to say thank you to my team, my sponsor, and Mr 170typhoon himself, Thanks for the advice Scott.
There are several others that deserve recognition but I'd take a up a whole page just doing that alone.

Lets move on to the meat here.
While it may be easier and cheaper to buy an already built extreme vehicle - in my eyes that just isn't as much fun. To me it would have never really been "my own".

Dealing with this kind of build, I'm bound to make mistakes, but those can be fixed as time goes on.
The most important part of why I'm building this is quite simply to have fun with it.
I'm not gonna predict my numbers or any of that jazz. If it's loud, great. If not - oh well. I backup and try something different.

I'll do my best to keep up with the photos, but as this vehicle is built on the weekends alone, and in between going to local shows on the weekends at that, there may be a slow period here of there.
Anyway lets begin with some pics of the blazer buildup if you want them.

Obviously, don't mind the dates on the camera.
Here's what it starts as: (Prepped for nopi nats.)
It started life as an adv1/ss1-2 vehicle.
 -

Here's the inside gutted and getting prepped. The wheel wells are cut out to allow as much box as possible. At the end, there will be a method to the madness. The rear cargo floor and fuel tank went away to make room for a battery rack.

We realized that it didn't need to be this high up in the vehicle. I was worried about it digging into the ground when it crawled up on the trailer, but come to find out that won't be a problem. More on that later. LoL
 -

However, the battery tray in its finished form will rub on the rear springs, so....

In the next set of build photos, you'll notice that I tend to skip around a bit on the build.
At least the rear suspension is in now and I don't have to worry about the vehicle squatting like it did with just 10 batts, the amps, and the wood from the previous wall.
 -
As you can see, that was just with minimal weight on it. No way would that hold up with all the concrete and steel to come.
Due to the interior design, the wheels couldn't be allowed to come into the wheel wells at all or they would be rubbing against the bottom of the box, so the solid rear end serves three purposes.

And the floor frame tacked into place.

Filled with concrete and layered with mdf, this should be quite solid.

Stop what you are doing and buy one off the market place. You will save so much money it wont be funny. Yea its fun to build until you find out how much everything it takes to finish it. You cant get the glass for what they are selling the whole thing for. Good luck either way looks good.

Build it yourself. There is no fun in buying someone else's loud car.

Thanks for the words Billy. Yeah I know it would be cheaper in the long run, but at the same time I want to avoid using someone elses design.
Thats like the rabbit.. that will forever have "Billys car" written all over it, even though someone else has it now.
Not to sound like an arse on here, but winning by using someone elses design isn't fufilling for me.

I've had a few chances to buy retired ex. vehicles recently, and while it's tempting to take that shortcut, I had to pass.
The difference is this one is mine through and through. [Smile]

Once the roof is built down and the concrete is poured and layered with mdf, it'll come to 30" on the inside.

No one said you have to use their design. Change it. I did and got louder. I changed everything in the car. its just much cheaper to buy it built and change it the way you want it. I was just saying the glass is more than what the are selling them for. But it looks like you are much further than the first few pics you showed, So might as well go ahead and finish it. Keep the pics comming.

I understand completely what you were saying about the cost.
I think so far the total that this blazer has cost me up to this point comes to a grand total of somewhere around 78 bucks. (Well, 178 if you count the trip to the er to have a piece of steel dug outta my right eye.)LoL
Obviously there's the gitterdun finals this weekend so that takes up Saturday otherwise I'd have the windshield frame in, the concrete floor poured, and the box frame welded in.
It's going a lot smoother and faster than I originally had planned. Especially since I'm doing the 99% of the labor by myself.
Murphy and his law are gonna catch up with me somewhere.

I realize now that the side mirrors are useless, so I still need to shave the mounting area and smooth that over as well. No biggie.
