For those of you that were wondering, here's an update.
Kristin's mom had to go to the hospital on Sunday afternoon with back pain. She had been in the hospital for a couple of days last week and they gave her an epidural to try to stop the pain. Sunday it became too much and the epidural wasn't helping. She finally had surgery Tuesday around noon. They repaired a ruptrured disc between L5 and S1. The disc was still mainly in tact, but part of it was pushing on her nerve and causing the pain. They only removed that portion of the disc.
We are doing Thanksgiving at Kristin's sister's house since her mom isn't going to cook. Her mom has to take it easy for the next couple of weeks and will probably go back to work around Christmas. She should be fine other than she can't lift, bend, or twist her back for 3-4 weeks.

matt i'm glad her mom is doing better, i was wondering about her the other day when i was talking to my mom about how she is doing. As you know matt my mom had major back surgery last year a couple weeks before thanksgiving. It is rough surgery but she did great.

Glad everything is ok now.....hmmm epidural shots...sounds familiar. I just had one in my neck on monday and go in for another one this coming up monday. I hope she feels better soon. I know how that kinda pain can be. Oh yeah happy thanksgiving

I just read these posts to my mom over the phone - her computer is down so she can't even get online during recovery (maybe Matt's tech support can kick in the next time we're home). She's very touched and she said it is really awesome that people she doesn't even know are thinking about her. She even cried a bit, but it was a good cry. She said it's humbling to know that people are thinking about her like this. Thanks to all of you from my mom (and me)!
