Glad everyone is ok. That weld is stronger than the steel that broke. Shouldnt have to do any thing else to it if he welded both sides.

Wow... Charles called as soon as it happened... he said PLEASE be careful with that heavy ass van! The worst part of my trip by far is loading and unloading... ask Carmen and Amanda... I get more nervous before loading up than I do in the lanes.
I think someone put a hex on us at the show... I came home to find that the guy I borrowed the tow truck from wrecked my new car

Actually the weld is the weakest point,I would recommend reinforcing the weld with .25 stock steel, In addition that rig looked like it is made for a 14.5 k load given the trailer weight is approx 4.8 k you are riding it to max capacity.

trailer is made for 18k, riding around max capacity for sure, but it has been done so many times with no problems. The weld will all be re-inforced before it is used to haul again. Plate on both sides, gussets, bracing across, whatever can be done, and then some...

It looks like 3-6500 lb axles, with six wheels, the tow vehicle is definetly not rated for that load. I would look into 4 wheels per axle and a dually to put the odds in your favor. I had to learn the hard way myself, too.

Welds are stronger than steel. Do some research. Not going to go into a bithc fest about it. Just glad everyone is OK and nothing is damaged beyond repair. That would have sucked.

When they get done with everything they are talking about doing to it, they will be able to haul Rosie ODonells head on it with no problems....

Hmmm, Rosie's head well man you got me on that,I'm figuring a low boy at 85k wide load, but that is something to pontificate about, she gets bigger every year.
Danny I hope Melinda is OK and I sure do miss seeing you guys. I am sorry for your accident and as long as you and your wife, family has their health and well being all that other stuff can be replaced.

I couldn't agree with you more Scottie. It happens in 3's...unfortunatly you got it first and last...so i guess it happens in 4's (glad to see Tommy is ok). We got to take the next 2 hits. I totally understand what you were saying when you said you were more nervous loading that heavy yet loud ass van on the trailer. I am just glad it went back on the trailer without many problems. I can tell you nothing felt better than sleep we were so exhausted. I am glad you made it home safe (sooo sorry to hear about your car). As Mike said yesterday we learned a hard lesson "never do anything half ass." We don't do much half ass...and I think we will keep from doing anything that way again. On a lighter note the weekend was really fun up until the end. The show was a blast and it was so great to see everyone again.
Thanks to Dougy Fresh for coming to save the day and haul the yota back and thanks Eric and Matt for the support and the run to Wal-Greens...and the "love line" exposure. I know the tow truck guys will never see this but we can't thank them enough for the help.

Oh and did I say thank goodness no one was hurt extremely bad. I really hope Beth feels better. Thank God, Mike has those "cat like" reflexes and was able to get out from under the truck before anything really bad happened. Same for Johnny's dive out of the way.....it could have been much worse. I am thankful that it wasn't.
