You might not be able to get everything out of the motor, then you will have a non-reconable sub.
Yeah, I am not sure I want to do it yet but was thinking about it pretty hard.... maybe I will leave well enough alone and just recone before I can't reoone it.
It was stinking a bit right before I pulled it.....street beat the crap out of it on a Orion 2500d but never locked just smelled a little.

We just spent about 2 hours trying to pop one of my 9512's, in a wall socket last friday. Had to move to a 30 amp plug in, and we started melting extention cords, before that sub had enough. We just couldnt get it to blow. We even had a guy stand on the cone while burping, it ripped the cone but the sub kept on ticking. We ran in a box, and free air, by the end we had started to cut the cone apart to try to launch the coil. Didnt work so we cut the spiders 98% out and still couldnt get it to launch. Damn subs are tough as nails, by the end of it all the coil was still good, just alittle warm. Well now its a 9515 and off to win some competitions.

I just love the wall socket tests on subwoofers. Some of the best magic SPL smoke comes from this.
We just did the same thing with a Crunch Ground Pounder sub. It blew 10 amp circuit breakers and started to heat up the speaker leads. The 30 amp circuit finally killed it Posts: 1743 | From: Chicago | Registered: Jun 2005

Here you got a APX 18" hooked up to a Belgian wallsocket : 220 Volt , Amperes you can read off the clampmeter , last burp was to much in A for the circuit braker

Stany that is sweet.... I love the wall socket test...LOL
In that first video I posted I was doing it up stairs and my wife starting yelling take that sh!t down stairs....LOL. I did a total of 6 runs with the wall socket and nothing really with the sub....was kind of disappointed really... but at the same time surprised at how the sub did.

Depends on the load you wire the subs at and whether it's in a box too. We had a dual 2 ohm Stroker (old school) at the shop back in the day we couldn't blow up running free air at 4 ohms. Took it to 1 ohm and it lasted 20 seconds. A lot of subs will last a long time wired at a high impedance and placed in some sort of an enclosure. WAY back in the day if we had a defective sub that still played we'd take an old school Orion XTR or NT sub, tape it up real good in the cardboard box, run a wire outside, blow it up right in the box, pull the wire out of the box, tape up the hole the speaker wire made and ship it off to get replaced under warranty. Imagine their suprise when the tech opened the box and smoke came out!
