Unified finals have been discussed for several year. It is not a new idea. I first heard manufacturers discuss it back in 2000 Thought premise for combined finals is: *Manufacturers no longer can support 3 or 4 organizations with annual dues and finals booth space *Not enough competitors from each individual organization to support a first class finals *Not enough spectator interest to draw the tens of thousand spectators needed for a world finals.
After looking ar a map
PA OH MI area have the most db drag racing competitors that attend world finals WV, VA, KY, OH PA area have a large amount of MECA competitors
IASCA I could not see where their strong area is
SLAP is New England area
usaci STRONG IN THE SOUTH (TEXAS) AND THE WEST
You could have any combine finals IASCA and MECA in the KY area. Maybe db Drag and USACi could join them? The Louiseville convention center may be too small for everyone.
OH MI PA area has always been a strong area for sound off organizations. Year in and Year out some of the largest competitor shows have been in these areas.
Michigan would be a good choice for a combined location - it is also near canada. They have large attendance for events. New car show draws 800,000
Ohio has one of the largest convention centers IX center (old army base that manufactured Tanks and airplanes) Ix center has been transformed to a first class convnetion center (HUGE and WIDE OPEN - no poles ) Enough room to hold everybody There is also the cleveland convention center (easliey hold 400 vehicles)
I am familar with combined events. In 2000 I hosted a combined 1 day event USACI, db Drags, Whitlee, IDBL and MECA. It was on rainy cold day. We had 100 competitors show up. In 2004 Steel Valley regionals had a similar 2 day event with db drags, MECA, IASCA, USAC and SLAP. It makes it an action packed day for the competitors. 4 events in one location may be impossible for some competitors.
combined finals with 2 organizations could work. combined with 3 organizations would be more complex. 4 would be very busy.

Grand Rapids, MI has a new state of the art convention center, plenty of hotels and more restaurants/bars per capita than any other place in the WORLD!

If any type of rotation is going to happen it should be US one year Europe the next.

After this year - Maybe we should change the world finals to a North America finals or even have three seperate finals for Mexico, United States and Canada
World finals would be a moving event changing to another country or an internet event.

As much as I like to see a "World" finals, that has to be considered. Atleast until we can make the WF more "World" orientated because at the moment it just isnt "worldly" enough.

Hm, lets make only the Euro-Finals and US-Finals on the same weekend. After the competitions let us look which winner car in each class has the louder score. The car with the loudest score in Final-run is automatically the new World Champion

In theory it sounds great but in reality I totally disagree. I mean no offense by my next statement but it is a reality. Finals judges had enough trouble deciding how/which rules to enforce when they were all under one roof. How would they ever do it in separate countries? Not to mention how would you get enough quality judges to do it anyway.

Good point rick. I don't think we had enough quality judges at world finals this year. I think we need to have a seperate north-american and euro finals, no world champs. We have different equipment available, different cars, different needs in the rules.
