well, i normally have necver brought much of my personal life onto termpro, unless it dealt directly with dbdrag in one way or another. but this week, things are just getting out of control.
if any of you are praying people, some of my family members could definately use some extra prayers
first of all... something that very few people know about (except for my teammates and those i consider close friends in dbdrag) is my mom.
last year she called me up in february and asked me to come over. she then sat me down and let me know that she had a doctors appointment earlier that day.
she was informed, after several tests and visits.. that she had Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Liver Cancer !!
the Hepatitis' was apparantly contracted about 20 years ago from her ex husband. he was an iv drug user, heroin, when she found out, she left him. 2 years ago, we found out he was in florida dying from hepatitis. and a year later, wediscovered she had it as well, so doctors assume she got it from him when they were together.
the liver cancer, they cant say for sure how or why she ended up with it, but they were going to do everything they can to stop it.
So, my parents asked me to move out of my house, and move in with them. this way mom would have someone at the house with her 24 hours a day, since i work nights and my step dad works days. She also, due to the treatments she was about to begin, was going to have to quit her job. so i would pay rent to them for living her, which would help supplement thier income.
she's been on her treatments for about 9 months now. a smorgasboard of pills and shots, and chemo treatments. up until 2 weeks ago, doctors felt all the meds and treatments were going rather well. last week, thedoctors decided that one of the cancer meds they were giving her was working, but not as fast as they would like, so they switched meds on her, and gave her one they thought would work faster.
that was saturday.
on sunday, she collapsed. her pulse was so low and shallow, that i honestly thought she had died. i couldnt feel her pulse at all.
i gave her cpr, while we waited on the life squad to show up to rush her to the hospital. thankfully they could feel a pulse, which relieved a little of the shock and trauma.
they got her to the hospital, and doctors did thier thing, got her hooked up to some machines, and started testing.
her blood pressure was 60/40 !!!! and her pulse was only 40bpm !!
well, thankfully, they got her stabilized, but kept her in icu, on machines, until today. they changed her meds back to what she's med taking. but now the doctors are saying they dont know why the other meds sent her into that state, other than it was most liekly an allergic reaction to the new mes. and of course, they cant answer any questions without speculating
they are hoping to send her back home tommorrow, as long as her tests go well today.
she has also been on the liver donor list for about a year now, and of course, there is never any idea when you'll move to the top of the list or when a suitable donor will happen to come along.
so, i could definately use some prayer for her to not only come home tommorrow, but also to help ensure that her meds are actually doing what they are supposed to be doing so she can beat the cancer and get the hepatitis in check.
most would think that's enough to go through.. but oh no, not over here. we have to add extra hardship on top of it all.
i am the oldest of 11 kids. i've got 7 sisters and 3 brothers. monday night, around 7pm one of my sisters was just coming home from work, and walked out to the road to check her mail. she has a typical mailbox, located along the edge of the road.
while standing at the mailbox thumbing through her mail, she was run down by a drunk driver !! and of cours, he kept going and never stopped. there were no witnesses, and she was found in her neighbors yard. police only know it was a drunk driver, or at least assume it was, because several mailboxes along that road had been hit, and many parked cars had been side swiped as well, even a stop sign had been taken out. so they are assuming it was a drunk driver. but due to the time that it occured, no one was out and saw anything.
my sister is alive at this point, but keeps going in and out of consciousness. they have her in icu still, with no eta on when she move out of thier, let alone when she'll go back home.
she has several broken bones, a punctured lung (from a rib) and a punctured kidney. doctors are saying that right now, there does not appear to be any brain damage, because when she is awake, she knows things like her name and her age, etc... but its only been 2 days, so we're still trying to remain hoepfull.
this is the first time i've seen daylight since sunday. i've been staying at the hospital round the clock and going between both rooms. even though they are in the same hospital, we havent let my mom know about my sister yet. we want to wait until shes back home and doing better. with her blood pressure and heart rate still recovering, the last thing doctors want is to get her over excited.
i know several friends have tried calling me the last couple days and not got an answer, please understand its not because i'm ignoring you i've just had my phone in my car all week, since icant answer it inside. and when i do go out to check it, is usually when i run home late at nght to grab a shower and a quick nap, but i'm usually back at the hospital before you guys even wake up.
i'm be making plenty of calls to everyone hopefully tommorrow.
for everyone else, sorry i made this so long, but neither of the situations is very easy to describe without telling the whole story.

I never realized how much you all are family until everything happened with greg last year. Your mom, sister and your whole family will be in our prayers until this terrible situation is behind you.

man we dont know each other that well but if anything i can do let me know and you are in our prayers here in florida. just stay strong it will work out in the end for the best.
