I was always a "basshead" to begin with.I worked under the legendary Mike Barfield in Kinston,N.C.for awhile and I got hooked on DB Drag because he was a nationally ranked competitor. One of the main reasons I love Strokers(the "classics",not the new crap)is because he had alot of success with them.Anyone know where he is now?I owe him thanks for everything he's taught me pertaining to SPL.

I think it's in my blood, my uncle owned Civic Music for 43 years and I've always had some sort of a system, then Alma's Bronco, Dave jennings Town car, Oki's U2 etc. got me competing, now just recently now I feel like competing again in bass race.

The bronco did a 151.8 in Vancouver - not bad for that old SQ bronco... no motor, no alternators, just batteries using an old gas generator..sort of fun and definitely makes you wonder what that thing would do with real power. Oh well, SPL is still in my blood.

I have always had a fascination with music. Went to my first show at The Entertainer back in '96 and easily became hooked. Helps that there were locals around that were "big hitters" like Danny Britain and Pure Sound during the first few shows I attended. Have done both the competing and the judging side of things and enjoyed both. After ten years, I'm still not ready to throw in the towel by any means. What keeps me doing it? The PEOPLE.

Back in the day, I was always into trunks. Owning a thousand Honda Accords since 2001, I went to a local NSPL show in (where else ) Roanoke Rapids, NC in 2001 with my boy Monte Tucker who was in the Trunk class with his '95 Jetta. Then he retired, sold me his DD 9515's, and it was all down hill from there!!!
Fast forward 5 years later to 2006, and I'm a retired multi-NSPL champion!
