Rules need to be concrete, intent is a grey area and it needs eliminating.

that pic is exactly as my bed looks right now, so i guess i picked a good example. and thank you for being sensible with the ruling. mr bump, what exactly do you feel i would have to gain with that cut as far as my score goes? if i were cutting the entire bed floor out to build a bigger box, fine. as it is, I have reduced the available room to build a bigger box in the bed.

Wether youve got any gain is no matter to me at all.
Wether its within the rules on the other hand, is a totally different question.
As the rules stand, your car is illegal for NW, simple.

maybe you're not getting the point of the DB Drag rules, as were stated by a judge! the rules are there to govern the AUDIO SYSTEM INSTALLATION. Not to tell me what to do to my truck outside of the audio system. Since having a hole in the bed floor-behind the enclosure location-has ZERO to do with the audio system it makes no difference. notice the "No Floor Cuts" line in the rules in under installation restrictions, and this has no bearing on the audio installation, thus this is outside the scope of the rule. In other words, I'm as legal as you are.

"Modifications that are strictly cosmetic in nature, or that do not affect the internal volume of the vehicle are permissible."
Bump - I do not understand why you are still worried about this ruling givin to you by a World Finals judge. You are allowed to do modification to the vehicle that are cosmetic related. Wayne has stated this many times in posts as well as it being written and understood in the rules.
"13-3 All rules will be enforced based upon their intent and the ruling of the head judge is final."
This is a rule. I think the reason you are not liking the ruling being given by Steve is because it might not benifit you or you are worried it will benifit someone else. Maybe I'm wrong but that is the vibe you are giving off with your posts.
The cosmetic modification being discussed does not effect the installation or use of any audio equipment. As Steve has said; dB Drag can not tell competitors what they can do to their vehicles, only class them based upon thier installation.
Here is another instance I'm sure you will look at differently. They have this kit for S-10s and a few others called a Truxarosa. Pretty much it makes your vehicle have the Ferrari fins on the sides. Now would you say anyone with this cosmetic modification is in violation of the rules for bracing?
