what i do know is that without dismantling hte amplifier which none of the judges did, there is no way to tell if it is 2 amps or 1.
I alos know that if it is dismantled that it is not 2 amps.
i also know that Wayne has said Judges one cannot alkl be qualified to tell by looking at an amp if it is multiple amps or not. I alos know that Wayne feels there are more valuable things the judges can do and look at rather making a decision on an amplifier.
Hence the post i made
If it looks like one amp it is one amp
If it looks like 2 amps its two amps.
As i said before it is simple.

I was right there the entire two or so hours it took to rule on Terrys Collosus. I defended Terry and argued that the amp was okay for multiple reasons. Anyway, the 10+ or so judges had to make a decision. The decison came out as no.
I talked to them and asked what the final reasoning was on the 'no', it was that there was a gap in the middle of the PCB. If there was no gap, the amp would be okay. It was a difficult decision as everyone there saw, so most were content of the group judge ruling. At least they discussed it rather than being closed minded.

Trying to make a determination as whether an amp is one or 2 amps based on internal construction is full of pitfalls.
When I first got into this industry I worked as an engineering assistant at Orion. We made an amp called the 280. It was a stereo amp about 10 inches long. Later, we introduced the 2350. It was also a 2 channel amp. It was a little more than twice as long as the 280. It contained two each of the 280 boards and a third board which included a bridging module and some other signal processing circuitry. At the time, this was the most economical way to make a more powerful 2 channel amp. No new parts (other than the briding module) were required. We did not make this amp to get around a particular rule in some soundoff organization. It was simply the quickest and most elegant way to produce a new, higher powered amp for the least amount of money and the least amount of time. I believe it was a sound business decision.
The point here is that we cannot use the PC board metric to determine amp quantity. There are legitimate engineering and manufacturing concerns related to the use of multiple PC boards.
