I know that almost everyone last year had a CRX from 88's up, but how will the 84-87 CRX's do in the lanes?

In your other post you wrote that you'll be doing a wall, so it shouldn't be all that different, but I would recommend at least 2 amps.

Team Sweep has 2 of the old body style CRXs(84,86) and one of the new body style CRX(88) in the team. From messing with them, I haven't noticed an extreme difference in the outlaw scores for any of the cars but the legal scores are different. The 84 CRX doesn't lose but .5db from the dash legal with the doors shut to outlaw, in the kick doors open. My CRX(86) on the other hand lost like 2.5db legal to outlaw, and both cars had exactly the same box, subs, and amps(it is a mystery to us also). The new body style is just like mine in that it would lose around 2-3db legal. Also keep in mind that this was with 15s not 12s like the street class and the boxes were not built for legal runs but for USAC outlaw spl. The legal boxs built for the 88 CRX was 2db louder legal but 1 db quieter for outlaw. These test were all done on the same meter. I guess all I can tell you is that both cars are loud, and I'm not sure one is louder than the other it just depends on how you build the box(and if you get lucky :rolleyes . Sweet sounds also used an older body style rex in street 3-4 so I guess they didn't think they were to bad.

I *could* tell you our finding, but that would take the fun out of it.

I can tell you that both get loud.

Some of the early 80's RX-7s do good also.... and its not a car that too many people saw at finals (actually it there was only one).
