I got to thinking today. and I asked myself "why do I compete?". And I still dont have the answer. Its not like I get any money out of it. All I do is spend money on a loud system, Put lots of hours into it. And then pay 20$ to take some runs and bring a trophie home.

its all about bragging rights and for me i guess its kind of a masculine thing....u know all ways wanting to be the best at everything. always wanting to get louder

Ever since I heard my friends Two (circle) Kicker 15's off a zr1000 I always knew I wanted to be louder..But since then this hobby has turned into a drug...
Since I spend all this money on my system, I might as well show it off and bring home some hardware..So that is why I compete

I should have been good at anything else when I was a teen besides doing drugs. But- that was all I was good at. Now I am recognized by people all over for my accomplishments these days. I am not number one and that's ok! I can still get it up there! I love doing little installs for people and their excitement never fails to give that sense of satisfaction. It keeps my mind and creativity active and that is productive! I have been clean for 14 years now, Thanx car audio!!!

I compete to prove to myself that there is atleast one sport where I/we can be world class without having to go down the gym every day
The fact that its fun, the people are fun and the w-ends away are fun is a total bonus.

Because it's safer than racing some idiot down the main drag of town on a Friday night endangering others lives. No one I have known has ever died while competing at a car audio competition.
Plus, I never compete against others; I compete against the number I put up at the last show. "Hey, this doesn't work; hey, this did work; What on earth did I do to gain (or lose) .5 db?"
Stuff like that.

I came pretty close to dying earlier this year, I sat in the Riley's van while they burped it. Moved me over a few feet and I have not been the same since, my heart still skips a beat once in a while.

I do it because I love technology. Nothing is cooler than seeing/feeling the power of multi-thousand dollar equipment being pushed to their limits. (and some times over!)
I also do it so I can have some time away from the wife.

correct - blowing things up is fun !
but hell, i've never met so many random woman (which we never see again !) from going out after an event ! it's a pity, we're normally in a right state and can't (or rather not !) remember them the next morning.
