Most of you that were at finals knew that one of the U-Joints in the Purple Van came apart as we were backing it into the pit stall. Well, I thought I would let everone know that it is now fixxed.
Every time we take that van to a show, something breaks on the driveshaft that I "engineered". It doesnt really 'break', It just shows me the next weakness, so I can fix it.
Anyway, the driveshaft is comprised of parts from a PTO shaft for a tractor that I purchased at the local Farm and Home store. I am not much of a mechanic, but I have always been able to look at things and figure them out. U-joints should come with directions, because the reason that one came out at finals, was because I didnt put in the retaining clips....who knew???
So tonight I spent 4 hours putting this heavy beast up on blocks, so I could safely ( I us the term loosely:)) work under it.
I took the complete driveshaft out and replaced the now missing U-joint and I even installed the retaining clips, so hopefully whoever the new owner is (hint-hint) wont have any more problems with it.

i think Alan has bobby's password.... the bobby i know of ( mr take ALL the tools from the shop) wouldn't have done that...

Yes, I do own every tool known to man. However, I do have moments of weakness!!!
On the bright side, it did work for over a year before it fell out!!!!!

It truthfully has probably 3-4 miles on it in short bursts around the shop and at several shows. We did unload it next to the Gaylord center and I drove it about 3 blocks in to the Nashville Convention Center. Thank God it broke after I made it into the Center and was backing into the stall.
