that picture must have been taken before they won...they had the world champion sticker already printed out and put it on as they were pushing it out of the lanes right below those other two stickers. Those were the days eh...people had to ban minivans for hitting 157s meanwhile now we have CRXs that can clear 160db on those mics lol

Ohh the memories, I miss my green van, my Cheatergreen Van, the first ever Extreme Street Vehicle. Speaking of memories, I remember when I showed up at Pigeon Forge, TN that year for the first time with the van, Terry Brocks and Mike DePace were laughing at the fact that I was using a huge cargo van in street. Well after I qualfied and they both picked thier jaws up off the ground, they weren't laughing anymore...Good times....Someday "IDMCTHS."......again....

Wow - seems like it wasn't nearly that long ago. I had nearly forgotten IDMCTHS although at the time it was very prevalant in many places.
Start talking about memories and I'd have plenty to come up with - if only my old website still existed. I could come up with numerous memories some people wish never happened in the first place as well, LOL.

Aw dude,I remember that like yesterday lol,I walked up to David's van try to see why he was hiding his encloser, took a peep inside and asked him "why do you have your box all the way to the front behind the seat?,it's not going hit a good number, you should aim it to the rear!" david says "naahh it's louder the way it is" I asked him "what spl# you think you're going to hit?" David says "well the mic is down 1-2 db but I should still hit a world record". Now I thinking to myself to what arrogance from this newbe(David) to think hes going to beat the world rec 151.8 with some HUGE funky looking box behind the front seats in rusty old caravan? I told Mike DePace about we went over to see his hidden set and not thinkig twice about it we started laughing.I was in 1st and Mike was 2nd in the brackets that sunday morning before David pulled into the lanes,Mike and I were so certain we were going to finish top 2 that we didn't even bother to go watch David's unimportant caravan run. 15 minutes later I we hear on the PA "we have a new world record in street 1-2 by team cheatercenter" WTF? I have never before seen so many people run over the judging lanes like that! I was competely SHOCKED<- ! The disturbing thing about this was the fact that the mics were off 2 db! This was the first time I was ever exposed to Shocker Mike's genius, lol.I never sh-tted on a newbe since!lol. I remember the next night on the conference chat forum tellin Mr Brandsoy that some guy in a caravan will come up to Love Park Ill and hit 155.2,he did not believe me,lol. I'm glad I saw the writing on the wall after that!

Wow, that was a time, and a season, I'll never forget. Terry, I think your recollection of the events that day are right on. Boy what a wakeup call that was. (Especially with the recurring dominance of the 'project Brandsoy' CRX box at the time). That 3x'er in Pigeon Forge, TN was a great show. My favorite memory is having a famailiar name off the leaderboard approch me and introduce himself. His name was Terry Brocks and he turned out to be one of the coolest dB Draggers I've met.
What's up!!! -- To all the people I haven't seen in a while!
That season was wonderful, alot of Sunday mornings in the four states surrounding, and including Illinois. I was kind of struck at where I found myself in dB Drag Racing that year. I had always wanted to be competitive with dB Drag, and all of a sudden I was competitive at a national level. I have to admit that I sometimes felt a little overwhelmed with this status. Especially with all the expectations to live up to. In fact, I think this often impeded on the interactions I had with my fello dB Draggers. I think some people got the wrong impression of what I'm about. I was 18 at the time and I think some maturity and life experience under the belt would've helped.
I still met some really cool people along the way...too bad it wasn't all cool people...
Those who know me best would probably undersatnd how I feel. Simeon Bragado -- Where you at these days brother??? Ray K. -- Holla!!
The day the Caravan whomped on to the scene, was a smack down. Dave you put the smack down on me that day. I know you were just itchin to tell me about your plans to do it during the weeks before the event. In fact, I don't think you decided to go to Pigeon Forge until after I informed you of my plans to go down there. Regardless of the truth of that statement, you did the hard work on the vehicle/design and you deserved to reap the reward at a multi-point event in a far away land. I just hope it felt as good as it did to take down the Eagle Talon, on our home turf
Aww, The victories, the defeats. I miss dB Drag

Haha dave you lit the scene on fire that year... breakin all the "rules" I remember seeing it at loves park (my first 3x ever, after which I was perma-hooked on db drag) and then again at finals, extreme green and all
P.S. Mike - I just clicked on your sweet old-school stats button and noticed that you attended the 1x In Niles 4/16/2000, my first db drag event ever I tip my brew to you bro, cuz anyone that attended that event holds a warm place in my db drag heart
