My wife (the Lovely Mrs. Horn) summed it up best - car audio is your life - it is a very sad moment. December 1st, I closed the Equalizer (my retail store in Shaker Hts), thus ending my 23 year career in car audio.
I had a blast. Over the last 23 years, I met thousands of people, traveled the world, and worked on projects of biblical proportions. Literally, I have done it all.
There has been many highlights that I have fond memory of:
Directed Electronics dealer of the year Boss Cannon winning truck of the year on the national truck show circuit Boss Armor Car - overall it was just a great project Equalizer -nominated for store of the year by mobile electronics magazine Having two fo my installers nominated for installers of the year by mobile electronics magazine My relationship with Boss Audio and watching that company grow My relationship with Pioneer Electronics Winning the 1994 U.S.A.C. finals in the Outlaw SPL competition and recording a score that stood for two years Marketing the first 160 farad capacitor to the mobile electronics market My relationship with PAN DISC records My relationship with dB Drag Racing. Winning my first SPL competition in 1987 Working with the development of Planet Audio Working with David Mclean Many Equalizer employees over the years.
I truly enjoyed the many SPL shows that I have hosted over the years.
Times change. I often said you have to recreate yourself - often. Well I guess it is time for me to recreate myself - one more time

Lets hope not. If that is what he meant, then this will be a black flag in dB Drag History. The man (Sam) is, and will always be, respected and appreciated for his endless efforts in making dB Drags a great organization.

Wow Sam, what can I say. I am very happy that you are taking a step in a different direction. I feel honored to have been to a few of your shows. You are one of the coolest people involved in this sport.
I may have to drop the flag to 1/2 mass tomorrow.
The best of luck!

WOW! Well Sam, thank you for the years of fun. You helped to keep shows fun and entertaining and even with certain people keeping your hands tied, you still kept things inovative and interesting. You always believed in me and your encouragement throughout the years meant alot. Thank you for the fairness and respect that you showed competitors over the years. I know it wasn't always easy, but you always made an effort to inforce the rules and HELP competitors become legal. I believe that you were positive for the growth of DB Drag and very influential in the world of Mobile Electronics. I will miss you. Thank you Sam.

More props to ya from from Maryland! Sam- you have helped me when we were just getting our feet wet and I will never forget the excellence you brought to your shows. I am glad we got to be part of your history. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors, Team BK.
Hopefully your new direction will still leave you time to continue in SPL land.
You may even be able to put a positive spin on it. Maybe if car audio isn't your life, you can keep it as a true hobby, and only have to deal with the "fun" parts of it, without the others stresses a store entails.
