well here's a good idea that i came up with last night, while drinking at a formal university dinner and social!

I think the 1 thing we were missing at World Finals this year was just this. A formal dinner get together and social would be a GREAT way to get to know each other better, met people, and put names to faces.
i have thought about having it on the same night that everyone gets there, after the have rolled there cars into the building and after pre-judging. the problem with this would be, not everyone does come on that day to roll their vehciles in, and the late comers who come the next day would miss out on the dinner social!, and also if it was anything like this year, then the dinner & social wouldn't start until 10-11PM, because the judging sometimes takes quite a long time! [Frown] i figure that's to late....

soo.. how about we have a formal dinner and social AFTER all the dbdrag elimination rounds have been done! AND during this dinner and social why not also include the all the presentations and trophies to be handed out at this time?? I think having formal presentaions, and a dinner would bring a GREAT positive benefit to Dbdrag Racing.

I belive it would make the "SPORT" of Dbdrag Racing look alot more Professional, and it will make all of the organizers, sponsers, competitors, participants, and spectators take this sport just as serious as you would take any other professional sport.

When you look at the NHL, NBA, NFL, you see they are all "professional" players, and they are taken very serious. and so should we as DbDrag Racing participants! We owe it to ourselfs for all the blood, sweat, tears, and money put into this sport. although None of us as competitors make millions in yearly salaries, we still repsresent a Large growing sport!, and a Sport i hope will continue to grow and grow!

Here is some food for thought, as i think this would make a HUGE impact on the world of DbDrag Racing. Lets here your comments and thoughts?

maybe nike could endorse dbdrag, with trigger finger gloves... the problem is, it used to mean something to be dbdrag world champion, now it doesn't mean much at all. classes are soooo diluted, competition gets weaker, etc... classes need to be reduced, i say, to about 9 classes, invite up to 20 in each class.

As I remember not "everyone" complained. Sure there were some complaints by some as there will be with most anything.

There are lots of things that keep dB Drag from being as "professional" as the above mentioned. You don't and wouldn't see Pros on national TV saying they can't wait to go to the game so they can get drunk or just check out women, that is one thing that stands out. Every year I hear/read more about the partying and what not than the actual events AT the show.

There are quite a few things that will always seem to seperate a sport such as dB Drag from other more recognized sports. Hopefully down the road dB Drag can make some changes that would be of much benefit.

Also, this brings up the same reasons we probably will not see many outside sponsors. Remember they have to tailor to a much larger audience and have a reputation to uphold themselves.

I liked it in 2001 where they had a casino night and formal dinner followed by an auction where you could buy merchandise with the money you had from casino winnings...I lost all my money right away but some kids ended up with a Zapco 4KW!
