There dose need to be something done about the location. Walking from the center to the trailer was a pain in the ass. To get stuff that we needed of forgot. Unloading was a nightmare too.

Problem I see is there is nothing in this for the cars that are expensive to build... the street classes did their part in bringing in people. The Extreme and Super Street classes have nothing to look forward to except for a 8 ft trophy and some pride. If you could make some sort of purse at DB Drag world finals and give people something to shoot for all season it would probally bring people out of the woodwork. If it cost someone a 2nd mortgage on their home to build a car and they see all they can get is an 8ft trophy well I guess I wouldn't see the point. Most of the cars I saw in Super Street were all sponsored cars or cars owned by shops. I for one wouldn't mind paying an extra $10-$15 entry fee per show that goes into a kiddy for a World Finals pot. [/QB][/QUOTE]

We've treid that for years, with no results. This would bring the excitement back indeed, and bring some old players back to the game. Try something at Daytona Wayne, see how well the turnout is. Unless you're well off, the life expectancy in this sport as a competitor is very short compared to others, because the incentives are small.

Wow, it's good to see that people have kept things positive.

I like the idea of moving Finals if it will result in greater competitor participation and spectator attendance. Vegas would be fun outside of the show, but I agree that the interest would not be there for our sport. I think that Finals needs to be more centralized so maybe Wayne could look into that?

Money needs to be awarded to winners at Finals PERIOD.

Sam's concept for the locals is awesome! I think that it would work the same as Mini Street, but that only one concept should be adopted to save confusion.

Wayne, you mention points and certified requirements need touched on for Finals invitees. I think that if you want 300 vehicles, then you will need to lower points requirements, or even have show attendance requirements. When I say that, I mean that competitors be required to attend 1-triple, 2-doubles and maybe 5 single pointers. Maximum points possible would then be 96 points if the competitor gets first at each event. That is not likely, but it is likely that the competitor would attend 7 total events without issues. This would also work well with the proposal of severely limiting the number of certified events. This would increase the attendance as well at certified events. Again, this was just an example. Have you thought of adopting the points multiplier per state again? Cali could have used it this past year. Same with New York. I don't think competitors have an issue with driving out of state for certified events, but driving 300 plus miles for a single pointer is ridiculous and I share their concern with that.

Jared, I really like the size restrictions on amplifiers. You woke up on the right side of the bed today. [Wink] Putting that College edumacation to good use I see. [Razz] I think that it needs some fine tuning but that is an idea that should be implemented.

Wayne, have you looked at my post regarding the MONSTER division? I would really like your input please.

its longer from ca-tenn than alabama-tenn... again this is the only arguement about vegas, its too far to drive, my puss hurts... most car audio companies are alot closer to vegas than tenn... that means it will cost them less to get their booths to the show, alot less time taken off, and more companies... also more people around vegas than tenn, oklahoma, and texas... ever been to a thing called sema or ces... that is packed, it wouldn't be as packed if it wasn't in vegas...

everything is positive for vegas except those who are complaining about the drive... west coasters have made the trip to tenn many times, since none of you complaining have, you have nothing to talk about.

The expo center in Tulsa would be a great venue. IASCA Finals was there in 92 and 93. Oklahoma has become a hot-bed for db drag.

Finally!Someone else who has been there and knows what I'm talking about!
It is used every February for the Darryl Starbird car show and I think it might be big enough. [Wink]
It is ONLY the size of 9 football fields internally with NO support poles to drive around (was the worlds largest free-standing roof structure at one time).
At the Starbird show every year they have over 1100 cars, vendor booths,2 stages, monster trucks, motorcycle jumps, bleachers for all of that...and it's under ONE roof! [Eek!]
I think Wayne could get his 300 cars easily in half of the building.

If we go with seperate Finals venues, maybe go with 3.

1 in Vegas for the west coast

1 in Oklahoma for the midwest folks

1 in Virginia (there is no building in NC that can hold finals) for the East coast. I don't think there would be a single complaint about driving then. Lets use the technology on the Termlab that is there. Maybe have one or 2 shows linked first to get the glitches out.

Instead of leaning on manufacturers for money, maybe lean more on the retailer and shops. Charge admission to get in, and by renting smaller venues, it may be cheaper. Get some local support. Sign up a shop to help support finals, let them promote finals and build it up for us. Cut them some slack on the show charges. Maybe make them an "Official Finals Promotor", give them the exclusive rights to multi point events. Reward them with the larger shows.

Example: Danny Britan signs on to be a "Official Finals Promotor" for the Oklahoma section. He gets exclusive multipoint shows in say.....a 400 mile radius. He gets the bigger show, he gets more money, and more competitors which help his business. BUT, he doesnt have to pay $500 a show (or whatever it is now). But, he does have to hold a certain number of shows a year since he's a Finals promotor. Which would also be a great thing to advertise for customers.
Ehhh, rambling

This is an excellent idea. We could even hold the events on seperate weekends, so the same judges could attend all. Then tally up the winning scores at the end.
I know finals would have a lot more participants if this happens. [Wink]

I would think that a Finals in Vegas would be cool but the bulk of the competitors are toward the east. I don't see a huge turn out. I'm not complaining, just pointing out a problem with that scenario. Just plunk it down in the middle of the U.S. it's simple logistics and makes the most sense to the majority. I would encourage Wayne to select 2-3 locations then send out a ballot with each 2005 competitor pack and let the competitors decide the outcome. All ballots would need to be in by a given date. This would also get people to purchase their memberships sooner.

I have mixed feelings about Vegas, sure everyone knows its "The Place to Be" but would it be in the best interest of Dbdrag?

Maybe its just me but going to Vegas is party and Gambling time for me, but there are lots of competitors under the age of 21 that could land themselves in trouble out there.

I dunno. [Roll Eyes] [Cool]
