I would have fought that one to the end because it says in the rule book that you can hold the roof. It says ROOF very clearly too. If anyone said I couldn't I would have said "Give me the rule book!" Then showed it to them and held the roof while I burped. Seriously anyone that followed that rule has only themselves to blame. I would have made someone look like an ASS!

if you hold my roof even with the fingertips of one hand, my roof collapses. and when it does collapse, the judges said that is taking away from the interior airspace of my vehicle. by doing so, that is a violation of the rules, even though this one time at finals was the first time i have been called on that since i have been running the geo since '99.
i can't argue with them, there is a rule stating that it is illegal.
however, it is legal for me to hold, without causing my roof to collapse, which is very hard to do, and i needed iggy's assistance to do so. the euro judges were trying not to let me hold my roof at all. we had to pull steve benton over so he could school the euro judges on how things are done. and he was standing there telling them this is how it is and they were still shaking their heads in disagreement. it was wild, but i'm glad steve stepped up to bat for me.

i just happen to fall into a paradox where two rules conflict in my car.
i can hold my roof, but i cannot collapse my roof as it changes the interior volume of my cabin [Frown]

and to give you a better understanding of how weak the metal in my roof is, if i set a 2liter of soda on it, it completely buckles.

this magic mate can be the answer to my problem. if my roof does not vibrate, i am .5db louder than not holding my roof at all.

I see! Well I think they were right on lowering the internal volume of your interior and I know those GEO's are made like a coke can. I'm telling you guys I'm selling a killer new type of sound deadener that is as strong as concrete! [Big Grin]

When you "call someone out" you are saying they are full of ****... not trying to get in contact with them. I am pretty sure he has seen this post and just doesn't want to respond. Bottom line, if Walter was a stand up guy my vehicle would already be full of his product. I tried to order it and could not. The point of my words is that so people quit getting so excited everytime Walter says he will sell something as I have tried to buy from him and not been able to because he wouldn't sell to me. I am not trying to be mean to Walter. I do however have a problem with someone coming online and saying something and then not following through. That's all. [Frown]

BTW Jordy, I see you are Canadian... For some odd reason several Canadians already have this product, but not any Americans that I know of.

Sorry mate but that post is a joke.

You hold your roof and it sags, correct?

You admit that pushing the roof in is illegal?

You argued that youve been doing it for years so it has to be right and got another judge to over rule the judges that were going by the rules?

So you openly admit to running whilst breaking the rules and getting a judge to agree to you breaking the rules

PMSL

And you say the Euro judges are bad LOL

Heh... I knew what you meant when you said you were calling him out. [Big Grin]

My point is the same though. You mentioned that you tried getting it from him before. I'm just wondering if you did it by posting on the forum asking him to contact you or if you actually sent him an email to his office.

Also, when you were calling him out on the board.. it only makes sense as a business person to not reply. It will only end up making him look bad in the end.

Anyways, I don't really know what happened from your end of things.. all I can say is that I've had great service from Walter every time I've dealt with him. (and I've exchanged a bunch of emails with him.. not only for Magic Mate but for other products)

Hopefully you can get something worked out though.

I dont know if this will help any but the first time the magic mate topic came up and Walter posted his email for us to order form all 3 emails i tried to send were returned as it was an invalid mailbox.

And anyone that saw my van burp at finals knows my roof could use some.....lol

well allow me to retort.

first, i ain't you mate. i don't play that funny Sh!t.

second, allow me to correct myself. it is illegal for me to press down on my roof in such a way as to change the interior cabin volume. allthough yes, i have been doing so for years and no one has expressed concern with it until '04 dbdrag world finals. it is legal for me to hold my roof, as long as i do not collapse the roof with my hand. however, doing so is pointless because when the subs start up, the roof collapses without my help. hence, the paradox. i can not cause my roof to collapse by holding it. but the subs movement causes the collapse to take place anyway. my goal is to try to keep the roof from moving in the first place. my gain does not come from the .01 cubic ft. that me pressing the roof in takes away. it comes from me using my hand to deaden the roofs vibration and flex. dynamat was able to help, however, it could not completely deaden my roof or prevent the collapse from taking place. my post was made because i believe my application is the perfect reason why magic mate is a good idea and should be used. i hardly think my post is a "joke".

third, the euro judges seen that my roof was highly flexible, and did not want me to put my hand on my roof at all. i had to call steve benton over to explain to the judges that it is perfectly legal for me to hold my roof, as long as i do not cause it to collapse from my hand. and they were still standing there shaking their heads in disagreement. and steve told them that is the way it's going to be. and he was right. it is legal for me to hold my roof, aslong as me holding it does not cause a collapse of the roof. and just to make sure i didn't mess up, i asked iggy to do it for me so i could concentrate on running my podium. no rules were broken by me at world finals. and my car was surrounded by both steve and the euro judges during my run to make sure of it.
the roof was held = legal
holding the roof did not cause a collapse = legal
so the answer is no, mr. choon, i did not admit to breaking the rules and having a judge to back me on it.

forth, i never said the euro judges were bad. but some of them are uninformed and miseducated on dbdrag rules and proceedures. other than this instance, i had to argue with them in both of my runs to get them to let me start my superstreet vehicle. and then when i did start it, they kept telling me that i had to cut it off after a minute and i kept screaming "i'm in superstreet! i'm in superstreet!" my entry card was right there on my windshield, but they kept fighting me on something that everyone should know. that was the other reason i wanted steve benton present on my second run. i know you feel all patriotic about the euro judges, but the fact is, there is some more training needed in european dbdrag officiating.

here is the deal, I bet GeoX'r roof bends when going over a speed bump!

The judges said he couldn't hold his roof at all. Now there is a difference between crushing your roof and holding your roof making it more rigid. This was explained by me to GeoX and he seemed ok with this ruling.

The rules are to be judged by the INTENT of the rule. What GeoX was doing 'all year long' wasn't in violation of the intent.

this was the ruling made at FINALS, and by the way, is the FINAL ruling.

Please keep the bitching off the forum and keep it in PM'

THanks!
