I was asked to take out MY plastic racing seats by WAYNE HARRIS IN 2000 in the super street class becuase they were solid!!!!
as for seat belts they sell after market too.
and not all seats have seat belts built into them.
BUt I don't care either way!!!!
I do however think that all seats if in the car should be BOLTED in and not to be pushed all they way OUT of the way!

Hmm, I know that in 2001 I asked if I could have racing seats in my Neon because a guy at Stereo-In-Dash in Dayton had wrecked his Neon and was practically giving them away. But, I was told not in street class. I think things have changed alot since then as Wayne is encouraging Tuner cars to crossover more, so I see nothing wrong with Racing seats. Boat seats, why Jessie? [Roll Eyes]

god i love this sport [Roll Eyes]

let me be the first to turn this like the other post

STFU, quit whining and crying and go buy them, im sure they are readily available at least one retailer in the world [Roll Eyes]

also where does it say the headrest must be 12 inches from the mic [Confused]

Is it a big deal if they seats are in their OEM location sitting on the seat bolts and not secured

Since I don't know much about this class, do you have to have the seats in it when competing?

I was under the impression that SM was just like SS but with amp and batterie limitation. [Confused]

seats must be in, as for the racing seats, I was told you can use them , I will be trying them myself. as for being bolted down I think they should be. but I dont care, I just think that 1 person should not be told they have to be bolted and another is allowed to have theres unbolted

Ok i have looked and re read most of the rules and asked around about this one because i am wanting to upgrade my seats in my van but i am also in SM. According to the rules SM class must follow STREET class rules from the B-pilliar FWD. What that means is all seats must be in the factory locations and BOLTED down.

Seats if replaced must be factory oem replacement for that vehical. So if your van/car came from the factory with CLOTH seats and your want to replace them with a UPGRADED seat it must also be CLOTH, this would be a OEM replacment. There are NO vehicals that come with HARD PLASTIC seats from the factory sso this is not a OEM replacement.

When it comes to racing seats .. you can use the CLOTH (sparco, bride etc..) style racing seats.

The complaints in this post are mainly directed at Broken silences's van thats a SS van in the SM class. Is has no seats bolted down in the factory locations, hard plastics or not. This seems to be a problem because it currently holds the world record in this class with what seems to be a illegal vehical for this class.

Okay heres a thought. The seats are consumer avalible, if you guys say you can't find them send me an email and I'll give you a link to where you can get them, they cost around 40 dollars a piece which is alot cheaper than replacing factory with factory. I have planned on getting some of these myself and anyone that has seen my seats knows why. I get harased every show I go to about them lol? Walk around a NOPI car show and see how many of the cars have racing seats, and they drive these things everyday. I don't see why having racing seats that are redily avalible to the public and having them bolted down would be a problem. In fact, Steve Benton told my team mate at a show earlier in the year that it was legal and WORLD RECORDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN SET. Come on guys, this is a stupid thing to argue about.

You know I find it in very bad judgment that a certified judge sees a question being asked and only responds with something rediculous that has nothing to do with the question. I mean what are they even on here for? Are they refusing to answer questions that are not posted in the other section? Heck when I look in there now I see more responses from competitors than the judges themselves.

Just remember to test.

Soft seats are louder in my SM car than racing seats.

First of all, I have been wanting the seats out of Chris's van for a long time. That post was an inside joke to Chris if you must know.

Why I haven't answered completly is because I am on the road doing shows in Missouri all this week ( Tuesday-Saturday ) and I don't have much time to post especially at 28.8 connection. I find myself now with 6 minutes left to check out of my hotel room trying to answer questions and satisfy people.

Finally for an answer to everyone's quesiton, if the place you buy the seats from says that their intended for everyday driving ( Street use NOT off road use ), then they are legal. That pretty much sums it up.
