The question is not a stupid one. To answer your legitimate question, I can only speak in general terms. Each person has their own agenda, and they choose which format of competition would best help them reach their agenda. Sometimes, people are limited to participation in one (or two) formats of competition because of their geographical location. As for one being respected on a higher level for winning in one format, each competitor is respected in their own rights. It is not a matter of being more respected because of the format that one chooses to compete (and/or win), but that they are held in high regards because of their efforts and abilities.
To end my ramblings, all formats are great. Whichever format you choose to compete, have fun.
idbl, usac, meca, db drag blah blah blah are all different organizations to start off with. in some of these organizations competition classes are divided by size and quantity of subs (or power of amps sometimes) and others go by cone area. I dont know how prestigeous it is to win one over the other but winning within your class in any of the above organizations is a big accomplishment. Hope that explains anything.

To compare this to the racing industry, all of the mentioned organizations are similar to CART, NASCAR, NHRA, IHRA, F1, IRL, etc. Some things are similar, but really the prestige in winning is about the same in them. I think lately dB Drag has a little more prestige than the others, but it has gone on a cycle, IASCA was really hot about 5 years ago, and USAC was before that, it all comes and goes, you should compete in whatever organization holds shows near you and your vehicle/budget allows. At least get your feet wet in any division and then you can see how things go by going national.

Man, this is stoopid, you can't even spell stewpyd correctly!
If you have 2 10s go IASCA, if you have 2 12s or anything larger, go DB Drag, but you will want to make sure you're picking the right format by checking how many shows each differing format had last year in your area, and just how much work, power, and $$ it takes to be competitive!
