i have a friend who is building a crx for street-a.
Can he put a simple crx box then put custom trim around it so that you cant see the sides of the box.

yes, but must be able to remove trim panel if judge asks

I have not tried this, but if you reduce the airspace back there, there will be some gain, maybe just a .1 db or so, but make it look good and like what steve said, you have to have it removeable so the judges can see it, plus it has to be behind the b-pillar

I would almost bet that a trim panel would loose you .1 to 1 dB
