I had that box that way long before finals and since I didn't attend I wouldn't have seen it anyway. Who says it's just hooked onto the outside of the box? There is more to it than you think.
As for what it does if anything, try it and find out!
Been there done that, should have seen my box, I had PVC in mine, and yes I know what it does.

First place I saw the use of those wave guides on the outside of the ported/bandpass boxes were from the European installs about 1.5-2 years ago.
They are used for compound loading/increasing wavelength and pressure in key tested areas. Of coarse each vehicle will be a bit different but for the basic part the same place but only different sized half tubes and placement.
In typical SUV/Van type installs with a "crx style" enclosure there is a tiny loss with the back top corner of the box since there is no loading plane "typically a hatch" so there for the half tube creates that effect.
Remember when you see this in a vehicle and its working for that person, it might not always work for you unless you test each and every controlable aspect of the enclosures, tuning and distance/positioning from the interior panels.

2 x DD 9915's and either 2 or 4 orion 2500's - i'm not sure if there are another 2 hidden out the picture.
what class (S Max or SS?) and what score ?

Sorry for not seeing this post sooner. This is my truck. streetmax 1-2. The seats were out for that photo as I was just completeing install before show. For that show I ran 2 orion 2500d's. I could only put up a 145.5 db with vehicle off. Puts up a 150.99 with vehicle on but that doesn't mean much except for the enclosure works. I am a 1st year competitor just getting started and having fun. Oh buy the way the subs are DD 9917's.
