Thank you Wayne for giving us the opportunity to answer questions. I would like to continue what was started in the previous post and will try to "unconfuse" what some may be confused about. I will state as I did before.... as soon as this turns into a bashing event, I am done. But for those of you who would like answers to questions about Metro Audio, the van, or us as people (believe it or not but we are), I would be delighted to explain. But I am not here to tell you how to build you SPL vehicle. So don't expect me to email blueprints. Now I know there were some questions I answered about the system itself and the post was erased, so please repost any questions. And thank you.

I have never seen the van in person, I have in mags. But I never really saw how many woofers you run........ So I will start this session with How many woofers do you run? This probably has nothing to do with the debate, but I just wanted to know...hehehe

Well as I said before I appologize for anything I may have said in posts here or in email or in instant messanger to Bill or John in regards to the prior issues. I was frustrated that I was not getting answers to question that I had. I was tired of being a polite compeditor and getting blown off as I think many were. But I have grown up and I am sorry. I dont remember alot of what I said but I am sure I was not nice.
I said this in another post and was gone off on by someone here. I wish Metro Audio the best of luck this is a new system and a new year. I doubt this will happen but I would love (as many would) to see what you have. I dont need a blueprint. I am not even compeating in Db drag now. I am going to be doing USAC SQ and some Outlaw.
But I do wish you like and I welcome the chance to just look. No camera nothing like that just look....or hell even talk. My email is prospl152@aol.com, you can instant message me on aol or aol instant messanger at prospl152 or icq at 2757081 or here.
Thanks for your time...

Ok, here goes. First off, whats your real name? Whats your job at Metro? I've just got a few questions, not sure if you want to answer them or not. #1, Whats the deal with the crx? You trying to be like me and competing with a crx? How do you plan on switching over your points to the van for finals if you're using the crx for competing? J/k about the trying to be like me part. #2, if the inside is so normal and sealed whats the deal with not letting anyone look inside the cabin? you've pretty much told us how everything is, why can't we look, is it that secrative?
This post was not to bash, just some questions I had in my head.

Sup guys me again, The CRX huh the CRX man I had no clue anyone knew about it and how much publicity this little car and its woofer made. I have ran that little car through a couple of times. Believe me when people see you pull up along a van w/ a bunch of woofers and they see you got this little Black nothing special CRX w/ this big black box w/ 1 single woofer in it, believe me alot of people go "Man I feel sorry for that kid" BOP 156.2 oh wait a minute. You would never suspect this little car ever to do that number until you see it back it up 3 days in a row w/ the same woofer.
I mean that car is the ideal 1-2 woofer class, stock interior nothing special about it-- excpet the Bad ass MMats sticker on da hood.
I mean the truth is the CRX is basically just a test that worked and worked damn well and just to show people round here it doesn't take a wall of woofers and 50 amps to be loud.
Well I am outta here Peace -
See ya Later Griz MR. Cust. Service p.s How do you do those damn happy faces?
156.2 from 1 woofer? What size? DVC? Not that I compete in SPL, but had an idea while back about 1 18" Stroker with 2 1100a2s on it. Oh well, I wish y'all the best of luck and hopefully this season can go without controversy *fingers-crossed*.
12 15s in a van, ahhhhhhhh the thought makes one drool . Again, hopefully controversy won't beget controversy, but that van should definately push everyone to their limits in trying to match and beat!! Good luck to all

Griz from Metro-"Hello everyone. I work at Metro Audio and have helped in the design and construction of the van. I guess I will try to take on the challenging task of answering and replying to posts."
This I must say congratulations to you to step up to the button and talk to us. This has been the problem for almost 9 months. I must say I respect you for doing what you have just done. Thank you also.
"I will simply ignore all attempts to degrade myself and the team I represent. Any questions or comments I will be happy to respond to in a professional manner, as long as they are presented in a professional manner. "
That is all I have ever done and continue to do. I let the irony of stupid comments sink right in. I know most of the time I just laugh at the people who have no clue how to conduct themselves in a professional manner without profanity. I will never stoop to that level. If I aspire to have a successful business, and run an organization next year as an official dB drag Turn Key even t promoter I can not allow it, but I would not let that immature side do that anyway. The facts are facts, and hiding leads to speculation, something we all have.
"It is amazing the amount of emotion that is involved with this entire deal. "
It is not though? Even though your team is receiving the brunt of this, your team will always be remembered. Maybe as of this moment, but everything you say is legit, then you have a right to be heard. May then your team be righteous.
"Hopefully, I can shed some light on the mysteries some of you insist are happening."
This is all we have ever wanted. People who seemed to know alot about your team, who almost acted like personnel in hiding, and interrupted our questions, did the speculation grow into a frenzy of pointing fingers of cheating.
"1. A question has been raised about the changing of the doors. We added steel tubing to the inside skins for strength and 1-inch plexi replaced the factory glass for obvious reasons. Maybe you forgot it still had factory windows on the side."
Ok and this I take it was done recently, hence no green paint.
But what is the measurement of your width of doorjambs. This is another myth in question. Can you shed light on that subject of shortening the doors?
"2. A comment was made about the center console being 2 inches over the dash. This is incorrect. It is about .75" over the dash. And please direct me to the page in the rulebook about this. It seems to be eluding my eyes."
Wayne has told me that the console is to be no higher than the lowest point of the dash around the window. This was discussed on the forum rules earlier this year. This was deemed as one of the gray areas where competitors could have a console 2 times as high as the dash, and Wayne commented about %50 of the height at some point, and it was argued to be less than equal. Someone search for that as will I to find it. It is not in the rulebook, but those are implied rules made just as the 12" rule from the knees to the chin.
"3. About the overhead console with a questionable device firing back. That is simply holding light fixtures. We switch them on while testing the van to make sure woofers are moving correctly."
Ok, I can deal with that, but a pic would be nice.
"4. About the different Jugg speakers. These are the redesigned Jugg. They are in the new lit available at your nearest MMATS dealer. "
Ok, explains that also.
"5. About the amps in the van at the Indy show. They are the new 50HC which does 800 watts at .5 ohm. The reason why this was done was, one, beat Josh because he has done nothing but trash us all year, and two, we were hoping to set a new record in that class as well. If you were at the show, you would have to agree the mics were about 2 dB off. If reading correctly, we would have hit 169, a new record. But we will not cry about that. We did receive the triple points we needed."
We knew that, and yes your number was VERY impressive, we can not take that away.
"6. A comment was also made about Alma having everyday conversation with people. Believe it or not, we do to."
I can not say that Greg did not talk to us, he did, but some answers were eluded, or just beat around the bush, but they were about the van. Why do you not talk to competitors when you walk around? I saw the team go to a few cars and talk amongst themselves, not once to the competitor. Introduce yourself, shake hands, be friendly and smile. That gets people alot further than being clique-ish. I do not know if you guys are not outgoing, had hangovers, or just plain had a chip on your shoulder for a few people. But it is not fair to take it out on all the competitors, young, new ones who look up to you as those rare few who make it on a mag cover.
" But nobody wants to chat with us about everyday things and SPL in general. "
That is what it is like to be a celebrity. Hope you guys can start handling it better than you have, or your fame will be short lived as a positive one. Right now is the time to start being righteous! This is not a slam in anyway, but a suggestion from the outside looking in. I am fairly new at dB drag, and competing in general, but I can say this, the politics are easy to learn you just have to play the game. It is alot easier to *****it up and play than to sit back, get fingers pointed that you are an outcast. Step out the light and show us what you have.
"It's always... so let's see the van..."
Well you should know by now, as a World record holder you are going to get asked that. I happen to have the loudest vehicle in Central IL with a pair of 12"s, do you know how often I get asked to see the van when I am not even near it and I take people to see it, even in the under construction time. Sorry but you guys need to realize this and *****it up. World titles have responsibilities with them, and with them comes disrespect from the public, you have to take it. You have 2 options, the Dennis Rodman badboy image you already have, and the Michael Jordan good guy image you need to achieve. I for one want to see the later.
" What do you guys do to get those scores...."
Well, why is your van so special? Why can Team Hertz hit a 64 with a pair of 15"s? Why is Mark McGwire hitting homeruns? Why Why why? It is you and your team's responsibility to answer questions. You already know you do not have friends by being secretive.
" Why can't I see the inside of the box...."
That one is kind of rude. I can say there are a few etiquette things to ask, one is to see the vehicles insides, and the amp rack, maybe a photobook, but the box design is the key to winning, and that is the secret, and you can choose to share if you like, but I know most people will not.
"It isn't very often people come up for some good ol' fashion chattin'."
That will come with time. Get the vehicle out of the way, get past the initial point of interest in conversation (the van) and then you can carry on about how you have things in common as no sleep, girlfriend and wives that hate you, or help you, the beer you drink when you think of the crazy ideas and so on. You will learn it is easy when you guys chill a bit. You have to be the better men for a while and take the trash, because the good will come with the bad, but you will start to earn respect.
I came in with a blind attitude towards Team Metro, but I was a bit turned off by the way I was treated, and the way the Team treats the crowd at an event. The public and the competitors should have a right to see the world champ.
"But ask Carlos about talking to us. He actually came up, shot the *****for awhile, and then politely asked to see what is so special about the van. We showed him."
Then maybe you should learn to keep the van open and let people come and go as they like. Some people are shy and feel it is rude to bring in something and keep it shut when everyone else has their vehicle on display, just like a car show. I know you have enough people to police the area, open it up!
"He doesn't understand what the fuss is about."
I am glad he did, because we do not. I know I got turned away 2 times. Not a good impression.
We explained to him we didn't either. Nice guy. Met a few nice people that day.
I am sure you would think I was too, but I never had a chance to be on common ground with the Team, that is, door open checking it out. That is how conversation begins, with the hows and whys. I know I look up to the van, hell I bought an astro last year because of the sweet job you guys did, plus I have had a passion for them slammed.
"7. A comment was made about us getting caught cheating someday. Sorry, that won't happen because we are not cheating. Plain and simple."
Then show the world that there is no fuss. Keeping the door closed does not solve anything, I figured you learned that by now.
"8. Something about junior high games."
That was directed to previous posts, and the way this whole topic, and the way you have presented yourself as a team in the past, by sitting out and letting some people who barely know you talk for you. That is how this has evolved into hate. People hate you and do not even know or talk to the team. Just some punk kid who brags, speaks in slang and WWF wrestling terms, and slings profanity around to sway emotions. I never got caught in that game it gets you no where. Plus the 1000 people that read this laugh and loose all respect for the individuals who stoop to that level.
" It is called protecting your investment."
This is where your team needs to evolve into a total competitor. Hiding does not solve anything. I do not think that anyone knows more about anypart of creating high SPL that someone else does not know already. Cabin mods are not a big part of SPL, so show them, that is what wows the crowed along with the wall o woofers anyway.
"What I feel are junior high games are the ways people cuss, bash, slam, and try to hurt are feelings. "
I think you hit the nail on the head. Most people that come on here and slander are not professional, they never learn, and get laughed at unknowingly get called an idiot anyway. I wish I was moderator of this forum, then I could wipe it before hate starts.
"It doesn't make us mad. It just makes us drop a class once in awhile. "
That is a bit immature to stop to a lower level, literally. What point did you prove anyway? That a world champion vehicle can beat up on an already beat up install? Does not make sense. Take the good with the bad, blow the bad off and do your thing. Going for that class record is out of your league, leave that to the less fortunate people who have that as a goal in mind. You have bigger fish to fry so do it. Do not worry about those in a smaller class who make you mad, you only make matters worse. Sometimes you may provoke people to retaliate, and that kind of motivation is deadly, ask Tim Maynor.
"9. A final note. You want our secret to SPL? Here it is. Sealed enclosure, powerful efficient amplification, good subwoofers, steady voltage, a reinforced cabin with minimal air, and stir well with hundreds of hours of tuning. Bingo... S P L !!!!!"
There are very little secrets to SPL these days. I have a few that others know anyway. Mike Agens did it with the rabbit. So now I know it can be done, but what you prove is that your secretive acts are not hiding anything, then don't hide it, create speculation, let tempers flare and so on.
"As I said before, I am happy to answer any questions. But the minute anyone gets stupid with ignorant comments, I am outta here."
Please stay on here for the sake of those of us who are willing to remain professional. It is more professional to answer with irony, or ignore an ignorant post than it is to reply in the same manner used. In 3 years as a Termpro user I have learned that, and earned respect from many people. I do not think Wayne would give me the status of Turn-Key event promoter if he did not feel I was capable of being professional at all times.
" I want to try to help everyone understand where we stand, but I am not here to tell you how to build your vehicle. "
We are not asking that, we just want some answers and a peek at the inside of that machine. I know that I have seen %90 of the world's loudest vehicle, the %9 I have not seen were due to lack of time, not in same region. the %1 I had a chance to see was denied by Greg Pauley. The %.05 I got of the van was not easy at all.
"That is what the game is about. We have put 4 years into this van and learned quite a bit by trial and error."
You are correct, but as a whole we need to move ahead together where common knowledge should be take a peek.
"A point was made earlier about the way competitions were a couple of years ago. You were not obligated to show your vehicle. Always guessing what your opponents had. That was fun back then. It added to the intensity of the sport."
As I stated, with the massive amounts of money that are invested, and won, you can not guess on your opponents. It takes that type of policing to prevent rule breaking at all costs. Even with all of us out there looking out for the bad guy, few people still slip by and make it bad on everyone.
"Wonder what alot of you would have done back then. "
Not competed seriously. I think I jumped in at a good time. I feel that I have much to offer to the sport of autosound in the ethics, the rules, and the way to conduct yourself as a competitor. Good old fashion manners are lost most of these days. I wish I had a staff that could run an event wearing polo shirts, dress pants, tucked in, belt, no hats, no swearing-but that would be a dream. The art of respect is lost in the sport-but in my eyes, you and your team just earned a great heap from me. Your first step forward was a big one. If you let me in, I will help get your righteous. I am helping VT get theirs. They are a good company with good ideas, and have earned my respect more than anyother company. Way more than the company I have adored for 8 years now. Fosgate has continued to ignore me, and as a future business man I will remember that.
I do want to extend my invitation to you this weekend. You have a chance to do 3 events in a short drive. I would also like to meet you and shake your hand personally and say thank your for opening the door to the outside world that your team has for so long kept closed.
I am glad I started this fire, and once again I gained something from it. I feel I can fule anything, and if I continue on with the respect that I have delt I will get answers. so far this is better than anyone has gotten in the past, but I am probably treating you a bit better than others also.
Anway, I wish this could have been avoided when we issued the challenge to be at SBN. That is when my speculations came over me, especially when I saw a spy photo of before CES install. Something that made me wonder.
I am not about to point fingers, I just want answers, and if I have to light fires to get them, so be it, it worked once again. Hopefully we can get this behind all of us in the autosound world, and learn from our mistakes. Hopefully we will learn not to point fingers if it all turns legit, and people will learn not to hide. I can say it has gained some attention, but I do not think it is the attenion you were looking for.
Once again thank you Griz for taking time to speak to the public. I look forward to meeing you.

Ahhhh, questions to answer. Let's see what I can do for everyone.
rozzyroz... Shows that we are planning to hit will probably consist mostly of local events. Until finals of course. After the much needed triple point in Indy, we are sitting pretty good. Try to catch us in KY if you can't make it to Omaha!!!
Proaudio150... Glad to see you have calmed down. I can understand your frustration early on, but try to understand our side of it. We tried to come out here and explain to people who were already tearing our credibility apart, but were bashed into nothingness (is that a word??) . It got to the point we didn't even want to talk to anyone regarding the van. Why? Because people would ask questions then not believe a word we said. Doesn't make for very good conversation to say the least. I felt after people saw us do a legit 167 with quite a bit less power on a shy mic in Indy, some may be ready to listen. And it has started to work. I thank you all for that.
Thumpin... My name is Brian Obara. I run one of the locations of Metro Audio and help in the design/tuning of the van and other spl/sq vehicles. I have been in this industry for over 10 years. As far as the CRX, it is a vehicle we put together to obtain points while we worked on the van. The ruling on point transfer is you are allowed to do so only if the vehicle you compete with at finals has at least 50% of the total. The van will meet that criteria.
uncle ber... Our CRX has one 15" TREO Engineering subwoofer, which is a DVC, in a ported enclosure powered by a MMATS HC amplifier. The car is bone stock... no windshield... no braces... stock dash, doors, windows, hatch... EVERYTHING!!!
acefosg8... You question the shortening of the door jams. Actually we lengthened the rear jam forward for additional bracing. If you take a measurement from the wall to the front jam, it would model that of a stock Astro. You sort of confuse me when talking about what we should show and what we don't have to show. You make a comment about how we should show the interior, the amp rack, and so on, but it is ok to draw the line at the enclosure as this is part of our winning secret. Well to be quite frank, so is our interior. Our interior is as just as important to us as our box interior is. So going with what you say, we should not have to show the interior either. Works both ways. But read on.
And now to answer a common question that has been asked and will continue to be asked... Why can't people just walk up and see the inside of the van??? This is a tricky issue. Here's why. Metro Audio has been in SPL competition since 1996, on a professional level. Oh sure we built cars back in the day, but they were for consumers. We thought that it would be good for business to try to put together something for the shop. Boy did we not realize what we would eventually be involved in. Anyway, when we first started competing in dB Drag, nobody knew what was in their competitor's vehicle. THAT WAS FUN!!!! Always guessing what was going on in there. So maybe we are holding on to old times in a way. Now here is the tricky part. No matter what you show of your vehicle, people want more. At finals last year, we literally had to pull people away from the van interior because they were climbing inside, pushing on woofers, pounding on the dash and doors... basically doing a tear down of their own. YIKES!!! I am sorry, but you just don't touch other people's vehicles. Then later, the damaging of a woofer. OUCH! Intentional or not, it shouldn't have happened in the first place. All we asked was for people to give some room, but so many had to be touching and pushing and grabbing and shoving. And I don't mean us!!! So I hope you can understand our reasons for being cautious. Ever heard of movie stars going for dinner or a movie in disguise??? Sometimes you just don't want the attention. We did not build this van for attention. We built it to be competitive in a sport we love and to help increase business. And quite frankly, we are embarrassed of the way the "competition" interior looks. But that is the only way to be competitive in this sport anymore. Destroy the vehicle. We would love if a rule was passed that, other than the glass (for safety reasons) you had to retain a stock, I repeat, STOCK interior!!!! Then we could bring these ridiculous scores back to reality. And there could be an open class for anyone who insisted on modifying his or her interior. Then, we would be more than happy to show the van in it's entirety. Thank you and keep the questions coming!!!!

This is straight from the Finals Invitation packet.... ALL competition vehicles must remain open and be on display during show hours whenever parked in a pit stall. What do you think of this? And Wayne, will it be enforced?
And please explain the 182.1db reading at USAC Finals..how,etc.? And the mysterious 175db silent burp in Nashville that everyone has been talking about? Those that were there can elaborate more on this subject if need be.

Believe everything the Griz says about the van and all about the stores. But don't believe him when he says look for the good looking one.
I agree w/ the Griz full heartly (thats a word aint it) about the stock class. I have a brand new car w/ a system that was in my old car, that I didn't care about. I mean I ripped out the whole back seat and anything else I could get a drill to. But the point was that car was my daily driver also. So I basically trashed my daily driver for 3Db.
I have the same setup in my car now and its a hatch (old car trunk) and went down 3Db. But you know what, its alot louder and alot cleaner looking, but I would probably not even place in the top 5 in my class around here.
I mean I have a nice looking setup that beats but when you have to go against this guy w/ 1 18" and gobs of power in a wall. Gee who's going to win? But I could care less about losing because I better loose, because if I sacraficed the whole rear of my car for a sub box I am sure I could do a nice number. But I don't want that, I want something were I can pull into the lane do a impressive number than back the car out and open the doors and beat the crap out of the subs and still have them leftover.
I mean what would sell a customer more, a 84 Celebrity w/ 5 inches of MDF and no headlights and rust that can play one note and thats it, or a nice clean new car w/ a system that will make you sick.
I just think competitions were alot better back in the day when you see and hear the car you just seen go up and do a crazy ass number than it backs up put on a charger and they just beat the hell out of the system and you could sit in it all day long.
I mean I know what it takes to win and all I am just saying some revisions could be made to the rules to let some of the guys who got cars that beat and are strictly for the street and that were is all the fun is.
Well I gotta go Peace, Later Griz
