I'm not that really into depth with car audio so that's why I am asking about DB drag racing. I have a feeling that it is where people compete against one another to see who is the loudest. Could someone explain to me more about db drag racing?

dB Drag Racing is a form of car stereo competition where 2 competitors compete head to head against one another in an effort to see who has the loudest car stereo system. There are over 1000 of these events taking place throughout the year, in over 50 countries. For the first time ever, a sound-off competition is actually fun to watch and to compete. This is why dB Drag Racing was created... to put some fun and excitement back into the auto sound competition arena. Many of these competition vehicles have walls of woofers, tremendous amounts of amplifiers, bullet proof glass and multiple batteries. Hours and hours of time and creativity has been put into building these awesome vehicles and they are definitely a sight to see. Other competition vehicles are everyday daily drivers looking to see if they can beat their friends.
The rules are simple and the judging format is objective. The competition is simple. Two vehicles are placed side by side. A sophisticated high SPL (Sound Pressure Level) microphone is placed inside each vehicle to measure the SPL. When both competitors are ready, the countdown begins, and they have 30 seconds to score the loudest SPL possible. During the 30 seconds of competition, the competitors may adjust their systems by using a remote control or an external console. The scores are displayed by light towers or video source for everyone to see. Many times, competitors will be pushing on the doors and windows to try and keep the sound in, and prevent the vehicle from flexing from the high SPL. However, all of the doors and windows must be shut and the competitor must remain outside the vehicle during the run. At the end of the “run” a competitor will receive a qualifying score. Once all of the vehicles at the competition have received a qualifying score, the top 8 vehicles in each class will be bracketed for “heats” like drag racing. This will then start the elimination rounds. During the elimination rounds, the competitors will be competing head to head to see who will advance to the next round. The 1st position competitor will compete against 8th, 2nd against 7th, and so on. The 4 winners of the qualifying round will then advance to the semi final round. The 2 winners of the semi-final round will then battle it out in the final round where one winner will be established in each class.
Many competitors compete at local contests throughout the country to accrue points towards national level competition. Each year the top 15 loudest vehicles with a minimum of 100 points, in each class, are invited to participate at the dB Drag Racing World Finals. This event is the culmination of all of the hard work and dedication that has gone into competing all year. Many of the winners of the World Finals actually walk away with sponsorships to compete for the next season.
