Wow what a weekend 2 shows in one day a slap in the morning which the judges let us compete early so we could drive 60 miles to the E+E show in Bradenton. On the way Carlos's trailer had a blowout he drove that squattin turtle at least 40 of those miles to complete the trip. (he drove it all the way home also). Once we arrived we quickly began qualifying there were lotts of cars and big dogs to see. I did another 151.3 with the truck. Qualifying 1st in ss5-8 Jim M brought out his daily driver 5-8 I believe he hit a 149 with 5 15's(music setup). We went into our elimination round and I had rolled down my windows to let out some heat while I drove to the lanes and when I went to roll them up the drivers window did not go. Sam offered alot of assistance and people offered to help but it was all in vain ( I later figured out that the wire connection at the motor had severed). The timer was started and we waited quietly for Jim to blast out a note and secure his victory oddly enough there was no sound from him something had happened and with 3 seconds left BBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRT he posted a number for the win.
I believe that the most exciting round was the final round with Phil qualified 1st and Tim in 2nd almost a db apart Tim pulled into it and pulled ahead to win by .1 many people were excited and cheering for both competitors.
Alma Gates was on hand along with Sam Horn. Competitors included Stepp Harris, Tommy Mckinney, Tim Phillips, Jim Myric, Phil Gandiana, Carlos Rodriguez, Eric Coulter, Chris B. And many others that have forgotten to mention or misspell their name.
After the show was a different matter. About 10 minutes after I left the rain began a falling right into my fully opened drivers window. Hard at first then pelting bullets of rain soon after. I was tempted to pull into a gas station to work things out but with my witty observational skills noticed that the rain was falling right to left and since I was fixing to make a left that would put it against my passenger side. Ha mother nature has her ways the rain changed directions as soon as I turned and added lotts of wind also I could only go 40 couldn't see anything drove in it for 5 minutes and found an underpass. Looked around the inside of my truck to asses the flooding, the inside of the windshield was soaked, dashboard, passenger door, seat, well I guess it was all soaked my subs had water running off of them (thank goodness they are not paper cones). I dried them pretty well with my dry towel (oh yea I was completely soaked). It was at this point that I felt driven to do some high way repairs pulled out the door panel managed to pull the heatshrink off of the connector and made enough connection to get the window up. The rest of the drive home was uneventful other than windy and very rainy. I di see a truck in the middle of the road that had bailed and some other guy that had to GO.

Great show. Long trip there and an ever longer trip home. Rain over half the way back to daytona. I won't have a problem going back for another show. Even if my ass is handed to me again

Well glad to see you all enjoyed the show. I'm shooting for the end of September for State Finals. Looking to make this event alot of fun. The event will most likely be at the same location. I am seeking sponsors for this event as well for better prizes than the past events. Hope to see you all there. The event will be on the Calender by Friday.

Well Pipo I don't know if that would be the requirement to get on that list. Because I've competed at finals in the past and I went to the show(although I didn't compete at the show)I didn't make it on the list.

Thanks for the kind words. It was a pleasure working with ED, his family, AND THE FLORIDA dB DRAG RACING TEAM (times have changed and they all have gone their seperate ways - but it was good seeing many of them)
It was late Sunday night after the show and we were near a fishing pier. My favorite pass time is fishing. I do not get to go to often any more. I thought we could get a few casts in. Then Alma started telling me stories of her fishing history. Great !!!! She beats me in SPL and now fishing. So we didn't go. I am going to look for a new hobby!!!
Ed here is one of those poor salmon that try to swim up Niagra falls to spawn.
