So the Panda would not be legal, correct? I dont really care just thought I would point out another problem with that car, it has no place in the dash for a radio.

The Panda has place in the dash.
Some versions come with, some without Radio "holder"
If your Panda has no one, you can order one
at the "Panda dealer" (Fiat, Seat) or you
can buy one at the OEM market.
I sent dBSteve some pics of that, and he put
it on his Midwest webspace.
There you can have a closer look for understanding.
But watch out for my next posting regarding street
cars. It may cause some trouble, but hopefully not [Wink]

Most older cars require you to cut the dash to install an HU, including mine. I have two dashes to use for if I ever sell it or restore it, but most people do not want to cut the dash for a radio. The common action to get around this by "car people" is to strap the HU to the bottom of the dash, or to mount it in a console.

The idea of street class is not to modify the vehicle, if you MUST cut the dash to fit an HU in, it can't really be considered street. but, if you put it in a console or alternative mount, go ahead IMO.

Since I run super street, I have no problems considering most others in my class just run cable out the door to the HU.

I am not tryin to get on anyones badside.. But if the panda dont come with a radio then how can you add one in? This is street No modifications are suppsoted to be made other than a amp.. a box.. and some subs. If you have to order that special piece that DB steve has.. isnt that modifying the interior.. Some of them do come with radio, as some come without.

People? Is that spirit of sport to find if car had place for HU? I think it is SPL competition who can build loudest car!

Pandas are not loud because of HU place, but because that people that use them have big knowledge about SPL and how to use it.

Did any from Europe ever complain about 2 seat CRX and in Europe there were only 4 seat versions!

And BTW there is a lot of cars sold without HU and piece of plastic over the hole. Is that modification of interior to remove it and put HU in dashboard [Wink]

The car doesn't come stock with 2 runs of 0ga either.

Obviously it should be DQ'd immediately...oh wait [Big Grin]

It's not like adding a head unit into a car without one gains them an advantage.

It's not about what a car comes stock with. Even the rules say you can add/change certain things. It would be pretty hard to compete with out a radio in-dash.

Street Division Passenger Compartment Restrictions

3-8a 3-8a Modifications to the passenger compartment are prohibited.

Additional Guidelines:

· The OEM headliner ( or an equivalent replacement )...
· The OEM door panels ( or an equivalent replacement )...
· The OEM carpeting ( or an equivalent replacement )...
· Sound damping materials may be used to reduce vibration...
· Expanding foam may be used sparingly throughout the vehicle to seal small openings or reduce vibration...

It allows very slight modifications.

I'm not running my stock head unit... and that involved a Metra adapter kit. Is my truck now not to be considered stock? That doesn't even cover CD changers. I don't feel that the Panda (or other like vehicles) are unfair, cause if you put the wrong box in a Panda, its not going to be loud just because its a "panda"
I'm just trying to do what Eric has done... LOTS AND LOTS of R&D work until I get it right (and I know that I have a LONG way to go!)
