Lately there has been alot of debate about build-outs, dashes, windshields, etc. To possibly amend a vehicles legality, at a triple point event, have the attending head judge "autograph" the main areas of the vehicle.

Such as the dash, center consoles, any build-ups or build downs, maybe even near the windshield if it looks like it may be in the "Grey" area.

If the competitor arrives at another event and the "autograph" is missing, then it would be re-inspected by the next judge.

Example: Show up at a show and Steve is judging it. Steve thinks the dash is a tad tall, and their is'nt enough windsheild. The competitor shows than Dave signed right next to the windshield and the console has an autograph as well. Instead of arguing about it, Steve can call Dave and they can debate it instead of debating the competitor.

I do realize this would be a small hassle, but, it would help hold judges and competitors accountable for their decisions and actions.

My 2 cents...

Just a suggestion from your little mate in Australia [Smile]

Maybe some form of Log Book for each car where the judge must sign off after judging the car and make any notes on bits which are legal/suspect. You must keep the log book for the year and at other shows judges may check back and see your judging history for the year.

We do it for motor racing here.

Great idea with the log book. I know James Turner suggested something similar, a few years ago. We could also have the judge fill in the vehicle info so competitors cannot change vehicles after the cutoff date, it would also be an easy way to verify enough points were accumulated with that vehicle. He also suggested a place where the competitor could make notes, such a frequency etc... Competitors would be responsible for having the log book at all multi point events, and World finals.

Let Wayne know if you like this idea. Maybe he would consider it.
It could also have a checklist of the rules that the judge and competitor could go over together.

... and could easily be incorporate dinto the back of the rule book, that way a judge can also easily point out which rule was in violation.

Show up with your log and rule book, and there should be no excuses.

hehe

Yes , i like this also .
Great ideas !! Things to think about .

And , i dont now , maybe its possible also to have a seperate "room" on the forum for judges only ( national and international ) , so they can discus and discover the real meaning of viewing a rule ; now there is sometimes a misunderstanding or a differend view .
maybe a "room" like this allready exist??? I dont now .

Thats an awesome idea. Or maybe the competitor that has a nice looking vehicle that doesn't want a signature on their car or truck. Then they can have a note book where the last judge inspected the vehicle. You may not be able to remember what you judged but you will remember what you wrote if someone reads it back to you.
