I was just curious after hearing that the second gens were typically 1.5-2 DB louder. So I am wondering if anyone has any input on the loudest or if anyone has tested 1st against 2nd with the same equiptment??? Any info is GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I don't like to toot my own horn lol. FYI though. If your in street A and you think that you will gain even .5, let along 1.5 from a first gen crx to a second gen Crx you will be very, very disappointed. Coming from someone who has actually tested a street A setup in both, I can tell you that that is complete B.S. They just kind of like different things if you know what I mean. But for example, taking my world finals box from last year and putting it in a 2nd gen SI last year and just running speaker wire out of my car into the other, they did the EXACT same score. The only real differenceit seems to me is when you start adding alot of equipment like from 2 subs to 4 or more power. The first Gens start to WANG really bad, my 1st gen sounded sick with 4 subs in it but my 2nd Gen is actually quiet on the outside. Then you start to see a difference, but still no where near 1.5db. Second gens are about 10 inches deeper while 1st gens are 6 inches wider so as you can see, they take a different box to get loud.

So, are the second gens better in street B or do the same rules apply? Seems like the rear glass is set at different angles and that would cause a difference in the wave. Have you tried woofers and port forward in either gen or just CRX style boxes?

I've tried all forward and wasn't impressed. And I would actually recommend a second Gen to anyone who asked because they look better, have an endless supply of aftermarket parts and repair parts, and last but not least, the more equipment you put in a CRX the better off you are. But no where near even 1 db louder, that, in my humble experience which may not mean much to you guys, is false. Be careful though, not all CRXs are the same either. SIs and DX/HFs are dif in second gens as well as 1st gens have a tendancy to be different. A USACI team mate of mine has a crx that is very inferior to any other crx I've ever seen. It lags behind the 2 other 1st gens we have on the team, it could be the year, the sun roof, the rust, its just wierd like that sometimes. I've heard other CRX fanatics say that they have crxs that with the same equipment are .5 behind the same year/model. Weird things go on, just find whats right for your crx is all.

P.S. I would have to say that you are right. This second Gen is definately louder than the second gen I had last year. I've just learned alot since then is all to get to where I am this year, so Tom now has my vote also.

EVERY crx is different. I don't know why just is. My first 1 gen wangs like crazy too, but I like it when it wangs
He may have the loudest 1st gen crx score posted, but when I get my car running a little better, and get to a show things will change
It's just trial and error, box after, box after box, after box.

CRX's are ****ed up to say the least. Mine goes against everything I used to THINK I knew about SPL! The people who are excelling with CRX's are simply putting more time into their vehicles. I can count 4 boxes sitting in the garage now 1 that didn't work 1 that works ok and 2 that work good. The rest are burnt because they just wouldn't do what we wanted them to do. 1st Gen or 2nd Gen it's still the same principal; Small 2 seater car with a ****load of cargo space. Here is the key at least in an amature like myself's eyes. Find a strong CRX with little to no rust and go to work, who cares if it's a 1st or 2nd gen.

FYI I know the feelings about USACI around here but the loudest USACI stock vehicle ever is a CRX and is owned by Greg McCool of Team Sweep. He was around 4db ahead of any other stock car at USACI finals last year except his girlfriends who is Kathy Colier also of Team Sweep. They did a 165.7 and a 163.0 at USACI finals while I did a 161.0 and yes they did get their shippment of my magical CRX dust lol . Its called garage time. They just had the funds to do it where I didn't. Kathy will be coming to a Street A lane near you in the next couple of weeks also and her CRX is also beutiful with no rust. I have the engine out of it right in my car which is why she hasn't competed but she should be getting another in around a week or so. I heard some people at a show were saying I couldn't build a loud Street A crx so I guess well find out. It won't be my car though. That class is really strong this year so we hope to place her in the top 8, what can you ask for with the numbers Mike, Mike, Eric, and the Alfaros are putting up, and they won't be the only ones up there in the end. It seems to me that you don't need a CRX in Street A to get loud though.

I can't find the koller powder in my garage I'm going to have to dig deeper. Yeah street A is a stiff class this year, I just want to make it finals to have some fun, I love this stuff. If I get beat, There are 2 teams I have in mind that I have no problem with. Team sweep is one, and the other I'm going to keep "silent". But I have a friendly grudge against a few others that keeps me in the garage every night!

I don't think you need any dust however, it seems that Kicker L7's help. Why is it that woofer is in so many CRX's? Seems like every one I see has them. Oh yeah, anyone willing to make me a deal on four or them???? (if you can't beat em' join em)
Also what kind of amps and how many are all these loud CRX's running?
