Well at first i posted this in the wrong place...but i have it in the right place now How would either a chevy Avalanche or a Subaru Baja be ruled if it had the box in the bed, firing into the factory "cut-through"? Could it still be in the street class, considering all other street class qualifications are met? Its just something i was wondering after seeing some TV commericals

3-8c Seats may be folded for competition, but may not be removed from the vehicle unless they were originally designed as a consumer removable component. Competitors who fold their seats must be able to demonstrate that the installation of the sound system does not interfere with the normal operation of the seats that were folded Additional Guidelines: · Any removable seat that remains installed in the vehicle during competition will be treated identically to a permanently installed seat. · If a removable seat has been removed from the vehicle prior to competition, then the officiating staff will treat the vehicle as if that seat doesn’t exist.
Now....the seats fold down, and allow a passage into the cab of the vehicle. Since you could have a box fiberglassed in the exact shape (as to attempt to "seal it off" of the opening that folds down into the vehicle.....i think it might be legal. But then again...ive only competed in 1 DB drag event, and im not sure myself

it would be illegal to have the mid gate open (or down). Rule 1-4:
1-4 The contestant must be outside of the vehicle while the vehicle is being metered and all doors, windows, and other openings to the vehicle must remain closed during this time.

So you are saying the midgate is a door? I do not see it. It is not on the ext. of the vehicle. It folds down with the back seat. I do not see why this would be a problem. I guess I will find out though, since that is what I am building.

that's what i'm saying man. its not a door, it is the equivilant of a fold down seat! there is no difference between this and a trunk car with the seats folded down.

the problem lies in that you are trying to say that a pickup truck with a tonneau cover is a "trunk."
Good luck trying to convince the world that a pickup bed is a trunk!!!!

ahhhhh........but it is not a truck i prefer to call it a suv. they also have a body like a suv, they, at least the chevy, doesnt have a separate bed. one continuous body line, just like a cars trunk.

i shouldnt argue, but i thought about this also. thought maybe this would be my "edge" on the competition. seemed like a good idea, to me at least, but the wife didnt think it was ok to buy a $30,000 truck for and spl machine. dang it!

Just going to add that Sam thought Street A was the class I should be in(with my Avalanche)I didn't do very well but it does qualify for Street with the box in the bed.
